Interesting thing: Jackets have more Goals for 73 vs. 71. So much for a star studded first line eh.
We have our star-studded fourth line. Our grinders use tougher abrasives. Seriously, that line has played so well it amazed me. And has allowed a touch more rest for the other three lines as they've deserved the extra minutes.

The 7 D we have already have been playing so well, adding Wiz to the mix means somebody has to go. Moore already got the scratch last night simply because of the numbers game.

You can't scratch Johnson. I don't see them scratching Tyutin or Nikitin. I feel like Prout stays because of his physical stay at home presence. Erixon has been great. Its hard to say who goes with the team playing as well as it has recently.
Prout would seem most logical, but I wouldn't rule out Nikitin. Upgrade the point shot on the power play with Wiz, and keep a big body who defensively accountable in Prout.

I love him, but it has to be Prout because he could be top pairing in Springfield and anything to help them reach the playoffs and win some games is a must.

Whoever goes back, and right now it's probably Moore or Prout, will be top pair in Springfield. Moore started the season there and did very well until he got hurt. Frankly, the fact that David Savard can't stick here is a good sign. Either guy will help them as both have played like NHL players.

I'd rather keep Nikitin's point shot available as a #2 unit option. It's pretty effective when he manages to get on target. The problem seems to be that he focuses more about getting through rather than getting on net.

(Then again, I watch most games on my Slingbox with ugly picture quality, so maybe he's still getting blocked and I'm just not seeing it. )

Can someone tell me the name of the song the Jackets come out of the dressing room at beginning of each period? I would appreciate the assist.

To add to the conversation about Garrioch....

Everyone in Ottawa hates him too. Like...everyone. In fact, pretty much everyone hates the Ottawa Sun sports department. His partner in crime, Don Brennan, is best known in Ottawa for calling for Murrays head after wasting a pick on Erik Karlsson.

The only reason the Sun exists is because it only costs a quarter, and its given out for free if you step foot in any McDonalds. The paper is 70% ads and half of those are for escorts.

Could you guys shut the **** up about not getting respect from Canada. Working out today listening to TSN radio.

Toronto station: I love the Blue Jackets!

Winnipeg station is interviewing Portsline 5 minutes later

Vancouver station an hour later: I LOVE the Blue Jackets!

They're having success, and thus getting media attention all over. This happens in every sport.

I haven't seen one CBJ fan say this since one ill-advised post some 2 years ago on the mains. It's become a meme at this point, and a lame one at that.

It may be alluded to around here on occasion, but I think most here understand that respect is earned, not given.

Nice to hear the love is spreading though.

They didn't have to respect a losing team, I didn't mind that. It's the ignorant claims that Columbus shouldn't have a team and Ohio doesn't have hockey culture, etc... that tick me off.

Sounds like my kind of paper! Are the escorts similarly priced as the paper?

Didn't it get to where the mods were issuing warnings in CBJ-related threads on the mains/in the trade forum to not use the meme unless you wanted an infraction?

Nothing that's said, and no amount of success will ever change this with some people. Screw 'em.

Yes, it did get that bad at one point.

So I'm going through the advanced stats for our defence, trying to see what I can learn. And indeed, Jack Johnson is a much better player than he used to be. He is used like a shutdown defenceman (Highest quality of competition, defensive zone starts), and though his Corsi isn't good (not sure how much I trust this stat), he gets the puck up ice very impressively (especially considering how bad he was at this in LA). JJ started just 41.8% of his shifts in the offensive zone but ended 53% of them there.

On another note, I'm confused as heck when it comes to our forward's zone starts minus ends. All of our forwards have better zone ends than starts. Is this even possible? Is the stat collection flawed? Am I just misunderstanding something?

I'm with you, I don't understand a lot of these stats. What makes sense to me is that most line changes occur on dump in's (wouldn't that be offensive zone?) and on stops of play. If these stats only deal with stops of play than maybe there's something to pull from. Either way, I sill like to judge players by what I see on the ice and JJ has his flaws (bad turnovers) but his positives, at least to me, seem to outweigh his negatives.

Im so excited to see what JJ and Murray do together on the ice next year.
