Blue Jays need to use Happ as the 5th starter (ERA under 2 in the spring) and dump Romero in the minors to work on his mechanics. ERA over 9 in spring training and he is walking a ton. Looks like 2012 wasn't an anomaly at all.

What's wrong with Lincecum?

When I discussed this with a Giants fan, he claimed that Lincecum had been "scouted too much". Yeah, that's his issue.

Pretty sure it's something more than teams scouting him too much. Everyone gets scouted meticulously in MLB.

Would the regular season just get here already? Spring training is way too long.

I think he has lost velocity on his fastball and he doesn't use his change as often.

Teams have learned to lay off his offspeed pitches and sit on his average fastball. I don't think he will ever reach his cy young level again.

Thank the lord he wasn't traded for Alex Rios.

For real. Spring training always seems to just last forever

That would be nice. I'm just guessing but it's probably so long so that teams can work each player and pitcher so that they are ready and give a look to their minor leagues to see how players are progressing or who might be ready to join the team. That said, I do hate spring training also.

That was in 07. Since then Lincecum has 2 CY's, 4 all star games, 2 rings, 3x NL strikeout champ and a babe ruth award. What has Alex Rios accomplished since 07? Nothing.

I agree. Even though spring stats are meaningless i think Lincecum is done as being an effective starter. He's getting paid $20M so i see why the Giants don't want to put him in the bullpen, but when the season starts and he gets rocked around in his starts i think they will have no choice. Hoping he becomes a super reliever like Keith Law said.

And a mediocre fastball. Lets not forget that.

Rios has just, you know, been above average while getting MVP votes last year, just sayin.

Belt has been having an outstanding spring. Anyone think he will have a breakout year?

It's the last two weeks of Spring Training that really get to you. You only get excited about ST in the first week since you're just glad baseball is back.

Only White Sox management would be dumb enough to take Rios' contract off the Blue Jays!

His bad play has over-shadowed his good play especially when the chips are down towards the end of the season.

You keep enjoying him White Sox fans.

I think he can be very effective out of the pen. He was good in 2-3 inning spurts last year and would then have a very bad inning. In 1-2 inning appearances, his mechanics can potentially fool hitters and it won't allow them to adjust since they won't be facing him again.

None of that really compares to what Lincecum accomplished.

Giants would be geniuses to just pitch him 150 innings out of the pen. Obviously won't.

I do. 20-HR season could be on the cards. You know he'll get on base at a good clip too.

Anyone know how long Motte is going to be out for? I picked him up in my fantasy league without realizing he was out.

What bad play? Rios has only delivered his two best seasons in MLB while wearing the greatest jersey in baseball and is a staple in their locker room. Hardly wasted money for a team that doesn't cry poor any more once they won a WS in one of the most dominant team performances in the games history.

Just because the Jays failed in developing Rios potential isn't a knock on the WS who did indeed. It means they are better at seeing said potential and exploiting it to its fullest.

Here and now he's a defending WS champion who was very useful in the playoffs.
