INJURY REPORT: Buffalo - Drury (shoulder), Connolly (concussion syndrome); Ottawa - Pothier (concussion), Fisher (elbow), Volchenkov (elbow), Varada (knee)

SABRES UPDATE:
The Sabres practiced Saturday, Sunday and Monday in an effort to erase their inconsistencies in time for tonight's game against the Ottawa Senators in HSBC Arena. "To work on some of the things that we needed to work on the last couple of days was really good," center Curtis Brown said. "We really put some focus on those days."

Center Chris Drury, who suffered a separated shoulder last Tuesday against Pittsburgh, participated in noncontact drills Monday but is not expected to play tonight. Drury was able to handle the puck and seemed to shoot fine, but the Sabres are not going to hurry him.

Defenseman Andy Delmore has recovered from the groin injury that sidelined him the last five games. He was scratched three games before the injury, so he hasn't played since Nov. 29 in Nashville. Ruff didn't sound ready to play Delmore tonight. "I don't know if he's had enough practices under his belt to be ready for a team like Ottawa," Ruff said.

Tim Connolly is doing better in his weekly concussion testing and is experiencing fewer headaches.

Mika Noronen is expected in goal tonight for the Sabres. He returns after Martin Biron's one-game audition - Friday's 5-2 loss to the New Jersey Devils.

The two-game experiment of separating linemates Daniel Briere, J.P. Dumont and Jochen Hecht is over. Briere was back in the middle Monday with Dumont on his right and Hecht on the left.

Included in the record-tying streak of seven straight losses is an HSBC Arena record of five straight defeats at home.

Records will be set tonight. I may manage to stay awake for part of it, those seats in the 300's make for poor napping.

In any event, the team sets a new franchise record with 8 consecutive losses.....Lindy Ruff gets coal in his stocking.

Ouch! Dumont was hit in the face with the puck (Redden clearing attempt) and is a little shaken up. I hope he's okay! He's on the bench so that's a good sign

Great game by the Sabres tonight. It was good to see that they didn't crumble after Ottawa came back at the end of the second...

I'm sorry, 31 saves is kind to how Mika played. He looked wretched to me. Noronen was close to being burned on wraparounds 4 times by my count. He can't move across the crease at all. The defensive zone play of the team is the main reason why they came out of the contest with a point.

Before the meltdown, it seemed like Mika was standing on his head.

That's often true about Mika, Biron too to be honest. I agree with eSabre.
