I wonder if he took an extra year off just to be on the cautious side. Concussions aren't things people take lightly, and I can definitely see his parents and himself favoring taking a year off to fully recover. Missing one year of hockey to have no issues in the future is definitely worth it.

He said himself that it wasn't until the treatment he got this past summer he got better. So he did spend a year before that suffering from the effects of the head shot and then another 7-8 months recovering+getting into shape.

So happy that he scored (for real this time, in a game). Hopefully he builds on this and fulfills his potential.

Damn, they gave it to Bill Thomas. Oh well, he'll get one soon enough.

Are the Avs actually developing one of Sgarbossa/Hishon on the wing now? Regardless of whether or not one of Stastny/$ $'$ are moved, one of these two kids if they make the club would have to be wingers.

Dear Hockey Gods, let this kid play in the NHL. Let him be as great as his skills allow him to be and above all, please no blind-side train-jobs by talentless borderline players.

He steps his game up in big situations and plays chippy like Danny. Probably has a little bit of Duchene and O'Reilly style wise with the scoring potential falling in between them. That was of course before the hit so who knows how much it may have changed his playing style. So far so good but we will know more next season.

Sgar is a center for LE and Hishon is seeing time as a center in their bottom 6 to provide a slow but steady ease back into the "game".

no, he was damn near murdered on the ice and was suffering severe effects well after the hit. wasn't being cautious he was just that messed up after suffering that vicious hit.

I think they should have started him off on the wing. He's been away for the game for so long it would have been fairly easy to get him back into the game playing the wing. He could build some confidence playing with sgarbo and if all goes as well as we dream he could be on Duchene's wing in a year.

Who's he playing with on his lines and how's his play making been?

I never thought Hishon would score many goals at the NHL, maybe 20ish at his peak but some of the dekes and passes he made in the OHL were drool-worth.

Yea, I'm curious about this too. Is he still on the 4th line between McNeely and Geoff Walker?

He's hardly played the last 2 games. They moved both McNeely and Walker up the last game because of injuries, he is only getting spot duty here and there. Has seen a little 2nd unit PP time but last game he only saw 5-6 mins. total ice for the game. Didn't get a shift in OT.
