The reason sounds a little like BS. I highly doubt anybody decides to watch or not watch based on Murphy. He was a decent chap, not sure what the real reason was.

Yeah, this is bull crap. I liked Murph and though his color commentary was a little slow at times, he was likable enough that "ratings were bad" is a completely stupid reason, and likely NOT the reason.

Murph, knowledgeable, but not great tv presence, really stiff on camera.

He was a terrible TV personality. Amazing hockey player, insightful comments, terrible execution.

Next step should be to replace John Keating.

Eliot has plenty of cred, actually.

As for Osgood, he's a goalie coach with the Wings and I don't see him leaving that position to go on the other side of the glass and be the "between the benches" guy.

Isn't he a career backup goalie or something? He's just too dull anyways.

All the best Murph. He was a bit quirky, but I still enjoyed his work.
Yeah, he was a little awkward and seemed nervous when speaking, but I have a soft spot for Murph. I always thought his chemistry with Ken and Mick was pretty funny with their teasing back and forth. I feel bad for him to be let go like this.

I hope we get someone like Draper, Osgood, Malby, or McCarty. I'd be happy with any of those.

Draper has a pretty prominent role in the front office. I highly doubt he steps down to do between the benches for FSD lol

I wonder what Rafalski is up to these days. Maybe he would be interested?

i liked Murph, and i dobt anyone isn't watching the Wings games because of Larry Murphy. Craig Monroe is HORRIBLE on the Tigers telecasts and they brought him back.

And yet John Keating still has a job.

Too bad. I liked Murph. I understand the gripes about his delivery, but, though it was awkward, it didn't really bother me, because the guy provided decent insight. FSD's official reasoning sounds suspect, but I'm not going to speculate.

Not sure if Eliot will be the replacement, but if he is, I wouldn't mind at all. He is also insightful, and he's done a real good job doing color for college hockey games. Maybe he'll grow into Mickey's spot some day when Mick calls it quits.

Though Murph wasn't a great broadcaster, he brought very good insight into things. Plus he seemed to genuinely enjoy being employed by the Wings. Not sure if he has any effect on the ratings though. Jon Keating and Mickey York are more useless than Larry Murphy. They are the reason I don't watch the Pre and post game shows. Not Larry Murphy.

****. That.

Can't stand Doc. Of the National trio, Pierre is by far the least detestable and I can't really stand Pierre either...

Totally agree. I don't even really care as long as it's someone that can speak well and not annoy the hell out of me.

As I've mentioned on here before, my fiancee thought his glasses were cute.

But the reason, I agree, was BS. Perhaps the Lidstrom-less team was why ratings declined?
