Despite being shutout, Danault was still the 3rd star of the game with an even +/-, going 12/19 at the dot and putting 4 SOGs.

Whitney was obviously the 1st star.

I love Danault.. but, does anyone else find it kind of ironic that a guy who's seen as a "winner" has almost always been on underachieving teams?

Team Canada at this years WJC, last year with Victoriaville, potentially this year with Moncton..

That's not a knock on Danault personally, I just find it ironic.

just shows me that he is not a game changer, more of a great role player that will have some success in the future

I wouldn't classify him as a winner. I'd put him as a high character player. Less Jonathan Toews, more Shane Doan.

Phillip Danault gets an assist on the PP goal by Moncton.

1-1 with 11 minutes left in 1st period.

Brandon Whitney saved 9/10 so far.

Brandon Whitney having an incredible playoff series so far at least.

Moncton 16 shots, Victoriaville 5 shots so far after the 1st period. Yet, the score is tied 1-1.

So far Brandon Whitney has saved 52 of 53 shots for a .981 SV%. Hopefully he can continue to play well and really see his stock rise. Remember he was a 2nd/3rd rounder by most scouting agencies and hopefully we found a steal. He certainly has the size that I love in a goalie.

Phillip Danault with primary assist on the Moncton goal to make it 2-1.

Whitney stays strong and his team is able to tie it up 2-2.

Now going to overtime. So far Brandon Whitney has stopped 42 of 44. Phillip Danault has 2 assists so far.

Phillip Danault with the game winner finally in OT with only 3 minutes left(of 20 minute OT).

Moncton outshot Victoriaville 17 to 5 in OT...it was amazing Whitney kept them alive that long but Danault scored on the power play. Moncton 59 shots, Victoriaville 26 shots for the game.

Phillip Danault 1 goal, 2 assists, 3 points, +1, 4 SOG, 5 shots, game winning goal and 1st star

Brandon Whitney stopped 56/59 for a .949 SV% and got the 3rd star.

Looks like McNeill might be headed to Rockord sooner than I thought. Red Deer's currently up 1-0 in the series and currently have a 1-0 lead in tonights game (though it's early).

Looking forward to McNeill starting his Pro career. He can't get out of PA soon enough IMO.

PA losing 3-0 in game 2 against Red Deer. They also got shutout in game 1. After thinking about it, I do want PA out in the 1st round. The sooner McNeill starts his Pro career, the better.

I'm not sure when Notre Dame can be eliminated (they won today), but if they lose next weekend, it'd be nice to have McNeill and Johns in the final few Rockford regular-season games.

Smith - Pirri - McNeill
Olesz - St.Pierre - Morin
T.Broadhurst - Froese - Beach
McArdle - Nordstrom - Svendsen

Stanton - Clendening
Dahlbeck - Montador
Olsen - Johns

Karlsson
Hutton

Norte Dame is already in the tourney. The seeding are not set yet and depend on the CCHA game tomorrow.

I'm not too familiar with the NCAA tournament/playoffs structure. When's the earliest ND's season can end, at this point?

And to sum up the Junior action from tonight:

Danault - 1G, 2A, OT winner
McNeill - 1A
Fournier - 1G
Whitney - 55/58Svs, L
Carruth - 10/11Svs, W

Not sure, but I would think he would finish out the semester regardless.

Well, if it hasn't been mentioned, the Icehogs can not make the playoffs.

Why can't they? They're currently tied for 7th in the conference with 4 other teams at 69 points and they have 12 games remaining. Some teams have a few games in hand on them, but they still have a lot of games to get points and make the playoffs.

I googled AHL standings and didn't realize that when I clicked standings it took me to the 11-12 season it looks like. Thanks for correcting me.

It could end as early as next weekend. Their seeding is dependent off they win the CCHA Championship. If they do it is a 4 and if not....an 8.

How'd he look, did you see the game? Buddy of mine was lining the game, told him to give me the best scouting report he could! haha

That's cool. Know they were playing in the CCHA title game today at the Joe. Last CCHA game ever with the conference changes coming.
