No chance. He wouldnt miss 10 minutes of game-time with the wind knocked out of him. He would also have been on the bench if thats true
You're right. I'm no doctor but I've seen athletes out entire games because of that, though. Sometimes if your chest/lungs get impacted a certain way your body just shuts down and you momentarily lose all of your strength.
I didn't see Kovy really grab anything. But bending down is a sign of at least trying to regain your bearings.
The only reason I am really concerned about the Kovalchuk injury is because he is such a warrior. To see him wince in pain like that and skate of the ice favouring his shoulder so much could only something bad.
