We're starting to sound like the Flames

I've never been so excited about our future...we've only lost 5 regulation games this year and this is probably one of the two we can complain the least about because we deserved the win tonight, we just ran into a hot goalie who refuses to lose to us or even have a bad game against us like its his last career game or something.

Halp(ern) is on the way.

He will take care of Steve Ott, Lucic, Orr, etc for us.

it happens. we were too fancy through 2...Eller trying too hard to make perfect plays..wrong guys on the dump and chase fore-check...desharnais' line caught again on 2nd goal. we are missing Bourque and Prust big time.
their grit and ability to get to the net. we desperately needed that. could've used Diaz on the 2nd pp too. if bourque has a significant setback, Bergevin might have to start looking for another top 6er with size, because gionta and gallagher can't be the only guys going to the net

Also we didn't have much drive. There were shots but far away shots. We were not scrappy like usual.

Don't worry, he will be on the 4th line with Eller.

He should be back soon, he needs at least 1 full practice with contact before playing. So Monday is key.

It doesn't help that the ref blows his whistle if you breathe on Miller.

Yea but overall I think we made it easy for Miller and the Sabres. They were beatable.

They are actually 11-1-1 in the last 13 after tonight by my count.

That is Devils of the late 90's-most of the 00's against us in NJ esque...

We took too many perimeter shots but part of the problem is every time we dared get too close a whistle was blown. We should have won this game, but it's the same script every single time, it defies logic. I'd rather play the Bruins than the Sabres in the playoffs any day of the week.

Nobody has said it yet so I will. We spent a good portion of the night chasing the puck because of lost faceoffs. We out shot Buffalo but many of them were outside one and done shots. Buffalo cloged the middle of the ice causing our smaller forwards to fight it out along the boards and it did not go well.

Why couldn't T Vanek have been out one more game... Oh well, an interesting week coming up. We need team clinic back in the game!

Thought the Habs were like 51% in the faceoff circle tonight?

NHL parity means being dominated and somehow ending up on a 5 on 3.

Eller needs to simplify a bit his game (again). He has the natural tendency to play fancy. Playing a simpler game will help AGally too.

They're a bad team and I'd take my chances with the law of averages. Rather play them than basically any team currently in the playoffs.

Have to disagree - I figure the possession time would be about 80% - 20% in favor of the habs - not to mention 39 shots + 31 blocked shots by the sabres for 70(!!) total shot attempts by the habs not to mention 19 buffalo giveaways and 7 hab takeaways - in spite of pretty much always having the puck habs managed to break even in hits, so yeah I don't think Buffalo either controlled the flow or deserved to win IMO but that's hockey anyways, sometimes you have these kinds of games.

Good news is we were in control in the game and a dumb call ****ed us. We also ran into superman Miller tonight. Only our second regulation loss in 20 games, too.

What else does Halpern bring?

All of our centers were over 50% tonight (Eller snuck in at 50%) except for Dumont who was at 33% but played only 6 minutes.

Halpern would have had 50% on the 4th line but it would not have affected the scoring whatsoever.

He is a waste of roster space.

Come on now, I don't think we lost the game cause of whistles. Habs were lifeless outthere. They were not scrappy like usual. Max Pac, Eller, DD sucked. Everyone was uninspired.

That penalty call on Subban and the 5 on 3 goal gave the Sabres life.. Did the puck really hit the glass and the ref screwed up the call.. He didn't even discuss it with the other officials on the ice so he seemed very sure
