Who exactly are we supposedly gonna draft if we re-tool that's going to compete against Crosby and Malkin??

We're going to have to find another way to be good. Thinking we're going to beat them in drafting attrition at their current ages is idiotic.

I'd love to see them make it in, but that 2 pt gap is way bigger than it seems.

Pretty much every other team has games-in-hand on Buffalo. Plus they're ROW is really low, so pretty much everyone else wins a tie-breaker with Buffalo.

Even with the winning streak, I'd still peg their odds of making the playoffs at less than 10%.

I think you'd be risking a lot. I agree it won't be easy, but maybe 1 in 5 at worst, imho.

Wild fans were pissed iirc when they took Brodin would arguably be top 5 in a re draft. Just shows that drafting 18 year olds is not a science.

Guys picked at 15 end up better than top 5 picks all the time.

I dont think a sweep will happen if Miller is on his game and the d can play decent. I dont think a one seed would be too happy bout playing the sabres if we get hot.

We hear this every year, 1 seeds are not scared of the mediocre Sabres, even if we make the PO we are still brutal.

9 ROW in 32 GP

All those players have the potential to be very good but virtually every team has a similar core of young players. We're lacking the franchise changing talent available at the top of drafts.

These dudes may not be the most talented, and there are glaring holes in the lineup. But it sure is fun to watch them compete hard and pull out tough wins. I say all in on the playoff push.

Screw the tank.

Tyler Myers, Hodgson, and Grigorenko have that potential.

I wish i could find that thread last season which had the entire board screaming tank so we could get Grigorenko. I thought he was our potential franchise center? What changed?

I'm not saying it's impossible, I'm just saying every team has a couple players who have that potential or they already have franchise players. The difference is that the players at the top of the draft are more likely to reach that potential.

Myers and Hodgson have proven they can play in this league. Both have shown signs of brilliance, too. There's a lot of improving left for them, but man, the potential is there.

The ones I'll remember are the home Carolina game and the home Pittsburgh game. Had a 3rd period lead in both, lost both in regulation. Gotta come away with at least a point in those home games.

No argument that there are flashes, I think they both have the potential to be #1D and #1C respectively and so does Grigerenko. But I don't think the Sabres can win the Cup if one of them is your best player unless there's a perfect storm.

Sportsclubstats has them at 7.3% chance after tonight's game.

That sounds about right to me.

1 in 5 would be a major overestimation of their chances at this point, IMHO.

After reading post after post after post programming that the "tank" is in fact over, it's hard not to come to this conclusion:

The Sabretrolls? They have you right where they want you!

The race to 9th and a 13th pick is on! I just hope Darcy isn't fooled as the TD approaches.

Can only hope the return for Regehr, Leopold, and/or another player is too good to pass up, and that somehow those traded players make Buffalo weak enough to finish a few points less.
