The difference in the breakouts between these teams is staggering.

Blues are supporting the puck all over the ice and skating through the neutral zone with speed. We on the other hand can only manage to chip the puck out and pray that we can somehow get it back.

He was tripped by Pietrangelo. He had his stick in between his legs.

Blues only have 6 shots as well.. neither team is really clicking on much. Other than that soft goal not a lot in this yet.

Oilers breakout: Get it to the winger chip it off the wall. Take it away from dman who blocked the chip. Rim it around to the other-side to chip it off that wall. Repeat until it gets out.

It's getting out of hand. This coach isn't taking us anywhere. I can't believe how awful they look under him compared to any other coach we've had. The Oilers being close to the playoffs is due to the skill we have and our PP. The coach is holding us back.

I'm getting so frustrated with Ralph.

10 shots between both teams in a period.

Glad I'm out for this one.

Breakout's been a problem forever because they're scared of the blue line.

Pretty boring period. Any good chance they fumbled away or fanned on. Get your heads in the game boys.

Blues are a solid defensive team that bottle the entry zone up... you can see the Oilers aren't able to generate much at all.

Could be a sub 20 shot game at this pace.

decent period... the offense needs to click but otherwise we had some chances..

with MIN and VAN breaking away from the pack .. If STL wins tonight it'll be down to 1 playoffs spot and 6 teams fighting ..

No way EDM can catch STL being 7 pts down.

It's pretty amazing how games across the league are getting extremely tight defensively. Shots are down across the board. I think the Canucks only had 13 total shots, and L.A. 20 in their game earlier.

Ya this game is probably the most important one of the season so far, we desperately need to win in regulation. Doesn't look good so far, St. Louis is playing awesome.

Halak has a 0.881 Sav% ... Elliot's is even worse.. low shot totals explain the wins despite bad sav%

Well, they have bigger forwards with better depth. Their D is better also considerably better than ours. It's gonna take something special to win tonight, and I've been thinking that this is gonna be a really, really tough game. I don't like our odds, but who knows?

I'd love to see Brown introduce himself to Jackman.

Oilers had 13 hits in that period. Pretty impressive. Unfortunately doesn't help on the board but probably helping limit the Blues chances as well.

I'm trying to find positives when there just aren't many.

already with this? Yak's line is getting enough ice time.. generating some offense too.. Yak got to release his wrister a couple of times from prime scoring location.. missed the net both times.. This line will get its chances IMO..
