We're only going to get 5 more wins this season. Book it.

Embarrassing. Seriously, management needs to go. Half of me wants one of our huge players traded for pieces this team actually needs. Skilled forwards can only take us so far.

Two different tiers of teams here - literally NHL vs AHL in difference. One team with "NHL players", the other with maybe 4-5 forwards that fit that mould (Gagner, Hall, Horcoff, Hemsky, MPS)

I'm just glad the fans boo'd these bums off the ice and out of town.

Keep Yakupov and Hemsky, trade Eberle, the guy looks more Patrick O'Sullivan than Joe Mullen this year.

As have the Avs. They're by far the two worst teams in the West this season.

I'm not going to blame the effort. I thought they were trying out there (except Eberle). St. Louis is just a much better team than we are. St. Louis dominated Vancouver the other night as well but Schneider was great and the Canucks escaped with a win.

Even disregarding higher expectations, the Oilers have played some of the boringest, most awful hockey imaginable this season. We are supposed to be on our way out of a rebuild but it looks like we're just starting one. Tambellini has no chance turning this team around in the off season.

And they're both still beating the Panthers out east...

Just think, the Oilers are this bad and might not even get a top 5 pick.

TRADE EVERYONE
TRADE EBERLE
TRADE YAKUPOV

Sigh. I'll let the frustration pass.

We really need a new bottom six though.

Watching the Backes interview, wow, what a beast he is. I can't see us winning anything until we have some bigger guys like that. Makes me wonder what Brian Burke would do with this team... Never like him personally but the things he values are exactly what we need...

Maybe I'm crazy but I thought Oilers played with intensity tonight.

Sad loss though, Blues played incredibly, Outmatched, capitalized on their chances, we did not, and a few bad breaks. And the rest of the time they didn't give us any space at all. That's probably the end of our playoff hopes.

The night we do that is the night this teams image changes. Reminds me of this quote by Steve Young.

We get a few more Mike Brown's and a few less Belangers and just send them out one night to kick the crap out of the other team and suddenly were a team not to be ****ed with!

Edit: This quotes from the GDT but I really wanted to respond to it because that Steve Young quote is one of my favorites of all time.

every one of you who were thinking the Oilers can make a run for the playoffs and have maaaaybe turned the corner, just watch this game. it tells you all you need to know about the quality of the team compared to a good team.

bunch of goofballs running around haphazardly. glad i didn't pay any money to watch that.
Just totally outmatched like I said they would be. The STL Blues are the single worst matchup in the league for the Oilers.

now 1-8 in last 9games.

This loss was a foregone conclusion and I said so.

Blues put on a clinic out there.

People don't understand that when a system club is on top of its game a young learning club isn't going to overcome it.

This team doesn't have the personnel to beat STL - their forwards are basically 10-12 big, 2-way players that have the body grit and effort to forecheck and backcheck with equal tenacity.

I don't see a single player on our roster they'd want to fit into that mould, other than a guy like Horcoff or MPS.
Agreed. Can't really pin this on RK. Oil got pushed around by a much bigger team that plays Hitchcock system and won 90% of puck battles.

I would love Burke for this reason. Clean house, dump Lowe + Tambellini, bring in someone who would be motivated to do better than his old rival. At least we know that Burke cannot stand losing and would not sit around dreaming of a cup dynasty because we got a couple first overalls.

Yeah, you're one of the few people that saw the same game I did. This is quite simply the most solid opponent performance and all round game I've seen against us this year. Blues were great in this one.
