So sick of the staged fights though, the only thing more predictable is the pre-game ceremonies

Or for the Sens to get trashed on by the play-by-play guy in other games.

I noticed Drew Shore went from number 60 to 15. Nice to see a young underrated player earn his spot. Hoping Gryba is next. 62 is no number for a stay at home D. He won't get his #2 but 5 would be appropriate. And that way Ceci will be forced to 83

Why can't Boston play like this against us.

Boston still dives like crazy, I would have thought after JUlien's rant about it they would smarten up

At least Buffalo beat Montreal.

I still like our chances of winning the division, especially if Spezza gets back soon.

Bobby B had a really nice assist on Shea Weber's goal. Hopefully he finds a home in Nashville with Fisher.

Watching Boston v Toronto made me realize it's really hard to watch a game when you despise both teams.

The Sen's twitter mentioned that too:

"Mason was looking good as the scene shifted to Edmonton for the second half of tonight's HNIC doubleheader! #Sens"

I wasn't watching. Where was the kid, in the crowd?

What an awful time to be an Oilers fan. At this point they'd be lucky to trade up for silver lining. Down 3-0 against St Louis late in the third.

Kovalchuk might not be playing versus Ottawa. He seemed to get injured crashing into the boards.

Different topic. Anyone else noticing how many goals are being scored low on goalies right now, mostly five hole variety? Is this a trend that relates to the increasing size of goalies or just an anomaly in a shortened season? The NHL is apparently talking about making pads shorter anterior to the proximal femur region. This may be something that will result in more scoring league wide.

I think you called it - IMO also, it is the increasing size of the goalies.

So some random thoughts:
- Boucher getting fired. Everyone likes Yzerman but... he has laid a pretty big egg with that roster in Tampa Bay. Lindback wasn't the answer and that's on him. St. Louis and Vinny aren't getting any younger and he hasn't done anything about that. Interesting to see what they do there b/c I think they stink right now.

- Speaking of coaching and goaltending. I was musing last night as I read through the wiki site looking at the Sens seasons since 08 and wondered if we did truly need a rebuild or if we just, like most teams, just needed to find a coach and a goalie. Now I feel like we have four good coaches and three goalies. Weird. But, then again, as much as we loved Fisher and Kelly and those guys we had to part with - not like we ever won with them, right? Heart over head.

- I feel like we're a winger for Spezza away from being one of the better teams in the league. As a Sens fan I worry that we won't get it, and even if we do we'll get beat up by the Leafs in the firt round of the play-offs and lose anyway.

- And no disrespect to my wife intended, but the four goal outburst in the first period yesterday was the happiest ten minutes of the year for me so far.

I'd be hurt if I was your wife. It was Tampa, man. Tampa

I don't think Yzerman has done that bad of a job. He's done a good job getting good young player and prospects. The problem is the NHLers he gets like Lindback, Lee, Whoever they have on D and in the bottom 6

Before the game they showed a bunch of kids, they were all wearing Oilers jerseys except for one "Oilers fan" in a Sens jersey.

I really wish that we'd signed Tyler Johnson. Not sure how that kid went undrafted and took this long to get into the NHL. He's tenacious and incredibly fast. 6 points in 5 games 3g 3a since coming up...looks like a legit NHL player.

Think Bishop to Tampa is a possibility? I know they gave up a lot for Lindback (well, sort of) but I would take any of Conacher, Johnson or maybe even add to get someone like Purcell. Clearly what they have isn't working there.
