It has come to my attention that two Southeast teams are in need of a PMD and of course the Habs have a really good youngster in R.Diaz.Carolina is the first team I looked at trading with and came up with these prospects;4th rd.pick G.Hofmann Center, 2nd rd.pick B.McGuinn LW and 3rd rd.pick Evgeni Dadonov RW.Then the second team is Winnipeg and these are the prospects I picked;2nd rd.pick L.Sutter Center,3rd rd.pick A.Lowry LW and 3rd rd. pick S.Kosmachuk RW. You will notice in each case the prospects are 2nd round picks or later no gauranteed pros.but players if developed properly could be useful players in the NHL.Each team is giving up a potential line LW/C/RW.the Winnipeg players are all 19 yrs.the Carolina players are McGuinn 19, Hofmann 20 and Dadonov 24.These teams would most likely counteroffer making it necessary to bring in all the rest of the Southeast teams that also have a need for def. but are not in the fight for a playoff spot. What do you think, besides that I have too much time on my hands?By the way the Habs could sign Mac Bennett after the Frozen Four is over and replace Diaz.

Have a feeling we will be making a 2 for 1 move soon...not involving draft picks, just bodies...just a hunch...with a Western team...kind of Eklundish there...

Would anyone consider a PK for Tavaras built swap?

Say Pekanecs + Subban + 2-5th rd pk for Tavares and Hamonic?

Tavares, Eller, Galchenyuk makes me droool!

Losing Subby Doo would suck ...... but that is our strength in the near future and Tavaras would make up for a lack of young "difference makers" we have in our system?

AND .... the PK "reigning in" has been successful - he is playing great and saying the right thing - NOT the right for PK Thing!

Great start to the year by the way Boys! Go Habs Go!

...Roger That

Tavares would require Galchenyuk and Subban at the minimum and probably more. Your dreaming if you think he could be had for less

Tavares and Subban are best friends in real life.

You don't trade them for each other, you get Tavares in the CH to play for us.

Same with Stamkos.

(Actually no, let the Islanders have Tavares. They have been abused enough. Subban in Brooklyn would be interesting though...)

I hope the OP is more readable now.

It is folly to think Bennett could replace Diaz in the short term.

And your dreaming if you think we would give up more than Subban who happens to lead NHL defensemen in goal scoring. Every team wants a defenseman like that to build around... why would we trade him when there is no one else close to being ready to assume that role.

I might be drunk, but did I just see someone say they'd trade Eller for Kassian? Do you know how bad Kassian is?!

The whole point would be for them to be on the same team as they are best friends or very close. With that said neither team is moving that player, maybe Tavares can sign in Montreal when he becomes a UFA

Maybe they are talking about Zack Kassian.

Hopefully it's Zack, and not Matt.

Either way, I'd rather keep L'harceleur.

It is underachiever Zack and yes he's having a tough time this season.

What would it take to get Vanek

seriously I'm curious, if Buffalo makes the post season then I doubt it'll ever happen but if they falter, what do you think it would cost us.

Marian Hossa was worth a 1st rounder, 4th liner Eric Christensen, 3rd liner Colby Armstrong, and fringe prospect Angelo Esposito.

Rick Nash (with several years left on his contract, not a rental) was worth a 1st rounder, Artem Anisimov, Brandon Dubinski, and Tim Erixon.

Chris Pronger was worth a 1st rounder, Luca Sbisa, and Joffrey Lupul.

Is Vanek is worth as much or more than them, as you believe? No.

You basically equated Vanek to Pronger, Hossa, and Nash.

Jesus...are you serious? I'd hate what to think you'd offer for Perry or Getz if they were still available

Better idea...stop reading it if you don't like it..you know the button to click for that don't you? or would you prefer to continuously show us all how well you can whine about something you've read and don't really like...better idea how about we all stop making threads and leave it up to you to run the forum and we can all agree about everything you say and not have any thoughts of our own...good deal sunny?

Well said man. I hate when people don't exercise their ability to ignore and just criticize.

Agreed.
Buffalo is in 10th place, 2 points from a PO spot.

Now imagine, Buffalo trades Vanek AND get in PO and loose in first round because of lack of offense.

For now, Calgary, Florida and Colorado are the only ones who would be sellers now.
In a week we could see Buffalo, Philadelphia, NYI and Edmonton added to that list.

Buffalo without Vanek is gurananteed to be at Toronto-post lockout level. And you know how bad that is...
