I'd be happy to pay him a healthy pro-rated deal until the end of this season... I'd be wary of much in a 1-way deal looking into next year though. He's played well at times, but I haven't see enough to say that he's going to be anymore than your prototypical tweener.

1 mill is no brainer for Zooks since he has shown he is good for .5ppg. Every year we throw some good money after bad. This would be us actually getting production for a small contract.

Asham and Powe both make 1 mill or more.
Pyatt is at 1.5 mill.
Hamrlik is at 3.5 mill.

If Zuccarello played this year and put up his ridiculed career average of 0,5 points per game - he would have amassed 15 points so far this year. That would also pathetically be the same as the entire bottom six combined so far this season - ie Pyatt (6), Miller (4), Boyle (2), Kreider (2), Asham (1), Powe (0), Haley (0), Bickel (0), Mashinter (0). If you add the departed Halpern (1) and Rupp (0) and count their NYR points - the bottom six in every form makes It to 16 points. Pathetic IMO...

If we sign zucc, we get a lot. Creativity, skills on pp and skills in shootouts. And americans, brace yourselves. This board will get flooded with happy norwegian dudes, whos pretty happy we finally have ONE tiny NHL-player again.

9.78. Don't get me wrong, their production sucks, but outside of Boyle and Pyatt, at least their being payed relatively accordingly.

And if we give Zucc this 1.5 million dollar contract, it would put him above all the other players sans Pyatt and Boyle.

Which is fitting, since MZA is better than all of them.

1.5 may be a little steep, however, but I really want this dude on our third line.

I'll clarify a little, since sometimes it may seem i'm all on the MZA love train and think he'll be a savior. He's not going to solve any problems but he's a good bottom 6 offensive player who can make plays against the d-men who will be on him. With a big guy like Kreider and a dude like JT who can help make up for his shortcomings I think that'd be a solid line.

No complaints from me in that department.

Just curious since his salary in the KHL is tax free;
What % tax would you pay for lets say 1.2 mill USD in NY (state and Fed. tax combined)?

And hell, I don't even care if they resign him for this season. I'd like it, but I think if we don't get something done now we should absolutely look at it over the off-season as well. He'll be 26.

I'd take that. He instantly becomes the best player in our bottom 6.

Is that a guess, or do you have any sources on that?
I really hope, if they sign him, that they trade him right away. But most of all, I want him to play WC for Norway.

Its not only the taxes. Escrow. It was set at 10% for this season. Then the NHL determined it should be 20% because the revenue projections aren't what the NHL had projected. Escrow will be high next season also. $64.3M cap. The NHL is paying out more than 50%. It is 50/50. So the NHL withholds money from the players salaries to make it 50/50. Between taxes, living in NY which is very expensive and escrow,Zuccarello is making a bad financial decision.

The player wants more than a contract for the rest of this season. The Rangers don't want to offer a deal longer than the rest of this season.

Yup, thinking the same thing. These SO points me so much in a short season with just 19 games left..get him signed already, enough with Pyatt, as useless as boyle is at least he can win a few draws and hits people this season.
