Although switching Lupul to RW could present itself as an interesting option.

The tough part is evaluation Eriksson's value. He'd absolutely cost a significant package. I am sure Dallas would want someone young enough, but controllable contract wise. Possibly something around a young NHL ready player, our 1st round pick and a blue chipper like Colborne/Biggs/Finn.

That is quite a significant package for that LW spot that isn't a desperate need for this franchise like our Top 4 Right Handed Defender or a #1 type of Center are, and goaltending could continue to be a question mark.
Even if we are loaded on the wings, I would make room for him if he can be had for a fair price. He would probably be our 2nd best winger and arguably more valuable overall than Kessel as well considering his great two way game.

And also, I wouldn't call any of Colborne, Biggs, or Finn a blue chipper. They are very good prospects but in no way should they be called blue chippers.

Only Morgan Rielly is the blue chipper we have ATM.

I agree about my loose use of "blue chipper", and I also agree that Morgan Reilly is really our only blue chip prospect within the system.

My point was the significance of the deal would cost much more than necessary to acquire such a player that we dont exactly require at this point.

You worried we won't win the cup without Mac and Boz?

You worried we won't make the POs without Mac and Boz?
Common Sense* which you clearly don't have any of. You just throw players into places not considering playing styles or chemistry. Grabo and Kessel have been tried many times and have not been all that great. They both want the puck on their stick. The 3rd line would have little to no offense. And the way act like the 4th line doesn't matter and you can just throw in any scrubs there, shows your not very intelligent.

any interest in yandle..? Rumor has it he's on the market. Having him gardiner and reilly for our future as PMD could be very scary to deal with it

The Rangers group is pretty good too.

I'm not saying we don't have a pretty good group of wingers, I'm just saying that I wouldn't go as far as calling it loaded.

Why. I don't understand this grass is greener ********.

He has slightly better intangibles, so what? Kessel is a better playmaker and goal scorer

He's a left-handed shot though.

The Leafs don't need another left-handed shooting defenseman.

Nice response. Way to argue against my point..

Not deliberately trying to attack you, you just make a tonne of idiotic statements.

Eriksson is signed to one of the best contracts in the league
He has a much better defensive game, better hands, and he isn't that far off from Kessel in terms of offensive production.

Frattin, Colborne and Finn for Eriksson. I would even throw in a pick.

JVR - Bozak - Kessel
Eriksson - Kadri - Lupul
Kulemin - Grabo - Komarov

Wow.

NOt true. PLay kessel with B.Richards in his prime and kessel would be a 50 goal man. A lot better than Ericssons annual 25 goals.

I'd swap Eriksson and JVR in that case tbh.
Eriksson would help Bozie/Kessel defensively a lot, Kadri would have 2 big bodied wingers to make room for him.

When is this gonna stop Komarov is like Kulemin; hes useful in the dot and has the strength to be effective, but he has stated he wants to play on the wing. Hes made the conversion and won't be played at C, so making a move and expecting him to play down the middle won't work.

And yes, secondary scoring is the difference between making the playoffs, and missing out. Trading one of Mac, Grabo, or Boz is acceptable because we have considerable depth down the pipeline, but if you think any player in our Marlies will replace the void left by Bozak AND Mac, without hurting our already fragile offense, you are wrong.

Why not trade Lupul while we're at it? After all, we have Ashton in the minors!

And my point being, whether or not people think that trading Bozak and Macarthur will hurt our chances, it doesn't matter because it won't happen. Nonis and co. won't take that risk of trading away two players and potentially falling out of the playoffs.

If we're giving up some of the organization's top young assets then it should be for a defenseman or a goaltender. The Leafs are something like 6th in the NHL in goals scored. Their problem isn't scoring, it's keeping the puck out their own net.

And Kaberle would be a 50 point Dman when paired with Chara.

Anyways, it's quite obvious that our top line lacks defensive ability. Downgrade 5-10 goals off that line and have them play solid defensively and we are a better team.

Eriksson when not scoring is still an asset to a team. Kessel when not scoring is usually not.

eriksson hasnt ever scored less then 26, and was once a 36 goal scorer. so with that same logic eriksson could produce 40. i like loui, but i dont see the stars selling if their in the playoff hunt.
