He is that good.

If Halpern does not get 22 minutes in his first game, I might be slightly upset or at least annoyed.

Go Halpern Go!!!!!!
Come on man. I know you want us to go get a goon somewhere but this in no way precludes that. This bounces Dumont, Blunden, or Nokelainen (if he's ever healthy) from the lineup, not golden boy Ryan White.

This move for Halpern reeks of a Gauthier move.

Was Bergevin kidnapped and Gauthier did a Vulcan mind-meld on him?

He was waived was he not? I don't think he can be put on waivers if he isn't healthy.

I really hope he has something up his sleeve. Halpern may win a draw, or two, but the team needs more than that come playoff time. Teams that go deep always roll a bruising, constant forecheck... I would hope Bergevin addresses this for now, and for the near future.

I would be disappointed if we didn't land something to help our bottom 6, we are having a very good year, and fans deserve more.

I think our PK issues is more of a systemic issue rather than a player quality issue. The one thing we were good at in the Jacques Martin/Cunneyworth era was the PK....

I believe the acquisition of Halpern will wake Moen up. Good pick up!

If a Gauthier move = addressing an obvious need for free (PK and faceoffs), then sure, it was a Gauthier move.

But that makes a 'Gauthier move' a really good strategy, so you might want to re-think it.

Halpern is a right-handed PK specialist who excels at face-offs and comes at a next-to-nothing cap hit. Great pick-up.

Don't let facts and logic detract from the fact that the Habs didn't claim a mythical goon off waivers.

Maybe it's systemic or maybe we need a good stay at ho.e D that excels on the PK. Gorges is all heart and soul but he isn't the smartest player out there. When he plays on the left side on the PK he keeps just getting completelyobesessed with the puck when it's on the right side and completely forgets a forwar behind him.

Dude, shut up already! We needed a veteran 4th line center who's good on face-offs and PK duties, and we got the best one available. More Halpern means less Plekanec on the PK, get it?

Now on to our next need... Halpern and Prust are a solid 4th line duo, now we just need somebody big (who plays big) to complete the line. I know he was mentionned in a sarcastic tone, but Parros is a great locker-room presence and knows his job.

Toronto is nowhere near as good this season without Colton Orr, Frazer McLaren and Mark Fraser keeping the other team honest. So people here can keep making cute little jokes about how tough guys mean nothing, or how 'there's no fighting in the playoffs' , but the Habs will be in the same boat this year as every year.

Montreal needs a couple physical players , its going to catch up to them. Moen looks lost, White is a middleweight and Armstrong is apparently a goal scorer now. When the team goes into a little slide down the stretch, and things don't go well, we can't even employ a strong forecheck because of a lack of size.

When Gallagher or Galchenyuk get targeted (and they will) , when our small forwards get rocked and their team stands around yelling at the other side, don't come on this board crying about it.

Let'S say that Team has two needs, which will be called Need X and Need Y.

Team A brings player N, who takes care of Need X.

Question : How does bringing player N means that team A won't be able to bring in player M in order to take care of Need Y?

That like, going to the grocery while having to buy milk and ham. Buying milk doesn't preclude buying ham.

23 roster spots is an answer. Your grocery cart doesn't limit the size of your grocery usually. You can always get another cart. Here we can't without dropping some items. Not saying it's the best answer, but some might see it this way. You need to sacrifice a spot to play a goon.

Not surprised due to the general problems this team has in the faceoff circle. This being said, makes me wonder if that will be it for Bergevin with regards to moves leading up to the trade deadline.

So... with a healthy line-up, we may see: (1) no Prust on 3rd, (2) Halpern on 4th instead of White/Dumont and (3) Diaz in, Tinordi out?

Last season softness festival is not too far away!

Regarding the FO issues: Dumont is at 63,4% and White is at 54,9%. Both Dumont and White bring a lot more energy and toughness to our 4th line than Halpern. Unless White’s injury is more serious than expected, I don’t like this minor move.

if our forwards are all healthy, Dumont is pretty much guaranteed to go back AHL, Halpern becomes the 13th forward. There's really no point in keeping a youngster in the stands for a long while.

And since White is injured, for now Halpern is of some use, we'll probably be see something like Moen-Halpern-Armstrong till White is OK.
