Who should the Jets trade with?

Which teams would make the best trade partners with the Jets? If we were to look at it from a win win perspective and also taking in to consideration re-alignment next year. Would re-alignment even factor in to this year if a trade is made?

It seems there has been lots of scouting between the Jets and LA, Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and St. Louis.

Any team that has in-their-prime veterans and wants to do a rebuild/retool. A team like Buffalo comes to mind.

Would you consider San Jose to be one of those teams? I think they have quite a few players that could help the Jets out?

Chevy said he is looking for more scoring. I believe that if the Jets could aquire a player like Simmons from the Flyers, we would see a bunch of the players already on the team score more. I love how he dominates in front of the net. Another type of player I'd like to see them aquire is a type that can agitate (Steve Ott)and be a bit of an assassin. Hitting everything not in a Jets jersey, Prust-like.

I don't think the Jets should put too much stock in being in a playoff position this year. I want to see Hainsey to St. Louis (or anywhere) for a forward prospect/reclamation project and a 2nd, and Antropov to Chicago or Vancouver for a 2nd and 3rd (possibly 2014). If they make the playoffs, great, get the young guys some experience playing at that high intensity, but the Jets don't have the depth to make it anywhere and our prospects are definitely subpar. They still need to focus on the longterm goal.

You have to believe Simmonds is the type of player the Jets would love to have. Every team would but even more so for a team that clearly covets size and a straight-line game. Having said that, I don't think the Jets could pry Simmonds out of Philly unless he was in a package for Enstrom/Buff/Bogo - they're certainly not giving him up for a rental. As someone who had him in our board's ESPN fantasy league (and sold high before he went cold recently ), he's had a very good year and his price is understandably high as a result. You also can't expect he'd put up the same numbers in a less offensive system, although he'd certainly clean up a lot of Kane's rebounds.

Do you understand what a limb is? Do you know I said Edmonton? Do you know what type of assets Edmonton has and what type of assets they are lacking? Youth for youth. Again - a limb.

I think Philly would make good trade partners, but I would wait until next year and ask Buff to come to camp in real good if he doesn't take it serious trade him to a team like Philly for Coburn and Simmonds or Couturier or a similar trade from another team.Get two good players that address our needs for Buff.I love Buff but its hard to build around him because never know what Buff will show up and I truly believe that's because of lack of conditioning coaches(Chicago) have been asking him to get in shape for years he was in good shape for the cup run where he was effective but has not been in the same shape since.

Not me. Buff is our only game changer. He's untouchable in my books. Or in return I want an established all star forward. There are maybe 20 guys in the league I would trade for him.

I like enstrom but he would be good trade bait in my opinion. He is a top pairing defenceman with PP leadership. He is very desirable. We have Bogo maturing into a top two and trouba looking like he might bring some of those qualities. Enstrom might be the biggest piece we could move while losing the least overall. He could get us a top line forward like hall to play with Kane.

that would be amazing. Dont see them doing that though.

Hall is only 21 and is almost at the point per game average plus put up 53 points in 61 games at the age of 20 last season. That would get me doing cartwheels though.

While handedness isn't all things and everything... All 3 of the defensemen you've mentioned have almost exclusively played the right side for their careers.

Definitely, the Sharks are built like the Jets with a lot of size throughout the lineup. Taking that into account, someone like Havlat would be interesting, he fills a need on RW and judging by his previous numbers he's having a rough year in San Jose.

The only problem I see with trades is that the Jets organization has very little depth. Trading away picks/prospects only adds to this problem and trading away roster players is counterproductive unless you acquire youth or picks. The Jets are somewhere in the middle of rebuilding and contending for the Cup. I think the best way to continue on the right track is to build from within the draft, keep your youth and picks and develop them into productive roster players. Yes, it might take longer but you have familiarity with these players and most importantly, it builds depth.
