I don't think anybody on here is saying don't trade these 2, where people like myself who disagree with you is to trade them right now for the types of picks and or prospects you will get for these 2 your not improving the team your weakening it rather you admit it or not trading depth players off your roster for picks in the middle of a season when your playoff bound is weakening your team.

The Leafs wont get the return of an overpayment in futures to trade these 2. If a team does it that's bad on them I just don't see it happening. You wont get a 1st round pick for either of these 2 as rentals nor would you get a prospect that would be better than what the organization has so losing them for nothing at seasons end and enjoying the depth they give for the remainder of the year + playoffs isn't a lost at all. They're the rentals the Leafs don't have to trade for to add depth think of it that way.

That's the difference your anal on losing 2 guys as UFA's for nothing. 2 guys that wont fetch you any sort of a significant return.
We are both basing this on assumptions and possibly a different value system dimi.

Parts of this could just be semantics.

The possible drop in team production in swapping out say Mac/Hamilton,Asht and Boz/Colb,Con,Ziggy , will be what with 13 games left to qualify for the POs?

Add me a 1rst, 2nd, 3rd or 2 2nds and 2 3rds is worth it in my eyes, all things considered.

You seem worried about depth once we are in the POs, why? Do you see a cup run here?

Unless we are debating a deep PO run, then what happens in the POs is moot to me, weighed against losing the trade values in Mac and Boz, considering where we are as an organization.

When we become a real cup contender, then i will look at our pending UFAs in a different light. I won't put the cart before the horse.

What is it with you guys not being able to interpret these things? Try looking at more than just the order of the table and then dismissing it.

Edit: I'll help you out: it means Anaheim is overachieving. (Like. Us.)

So what? Who cares? I dont think anyone in Anaheim is in favour of selling off because they're overachieving.

Im quite liking winning for a change.

When you have to do that much math, I'd say it's bogus.

Score-Adjusted Fenwick = [3.75 * (Fen_up_2 - 44%) + 8.46 * (Fen_up_1 - 46.1%) + 17.94 * (Fen_tied - 50%) + 8.46 * (Fen_down_1 - 53.9%) + 3.75 * (Fen_down_2 - 56%)] / 42.36 + 50%

Exactly. Hockey is played on ice. Let's judge the statistical data that can be inferred by what we see on the ice.

If statistical data is so good...why does nobody ever acknowledge the fact that Phaneuf plays some of the toughest minutes in the entire league?

On these boards, he's just a pylon.

If advanced stats existed in the early 2000s during those playoff runs I guarantee we'd be in the bottom of the league. Those teams constantly relied upon astoundingly good goaltending, then barged there way to the net and piled the puck in.

We were outshot a lot of nights, but pulled off the win.

EDIT - And you can always go to the by the numbers board

Yes, but I am not using that to say that the Leafs need to score 3.14159 goals/game to win every night.

I believe Joe Morrow would go to Dallas as part of the deal for Brendan Morrow.

BTW, Winnipeg is -15 in goal differential and is 3 points behind us in the standings...I guess Fenwick > Reality.

Would love to know the "Fenwick" of our team last year.

I was thinking about this earlier, but does anyone else feel it'd be a mistake to trade Grabo for a defenseman/rental? If Bozak leaves in the offseason and if Grabo was traded for a centre who leaves as a UFA, our centre depth will be pitiful.

Other than Kadri, who slides in the top 6 as a centre? To me, it's really really risky to bank on getting a UFA centre or we get stuck with Colborne or McClement as a top 6 centre.

And the trading finally begins. Brendan Morrow to Penguins. The penguins get even better. Morrow brings more leadership, is a grinder and physical forward who should give them some offensive punch. The penguins are in it win it

Frankly I'm a bit shocked at the reluctance to consider the relevance of advanced statistical information here... would have thought there would be more of you regulars that would recognize it's value.

I'll be sure to only reference feelings and observations from now on, in this thread, for you gents
