Crazy. Perry and Getzlaf are great, but $16.875m? And Perry just a fraction under what Malkin and Crosby get? In a few years it won't be such a chunk, and they can afford it cap wise at the moment.

Funny how it is one of, if not the, most militant organisations during the lockout that is spending the huge money to lock up their UFA's.

And another piece off the trade table. Interesting if we are considering moving a winger.

That's a lot of money, no question, but I think he would've gotten even more on the open market. I'd imagine it has quite a bit to do with the Ducks success this season. If they were awful again, I'd imagine one if not both of Getz and Perry would've walked.

Technically it's significantly less than Crosby, just the difference between the CBAs. Imagine Pittsburgh if Crosby had the full cap hit that he would've had.

Who would've thought the Preds and Jackets would be playing for supremacy of last place in the division tonight? Don't know what's going on with that team. It's basically the same team only Josi replaced Suter's minutes and Josi's really good. Maybe Suter really is that big an impact player. He certainly has been drawing rave reviews lately in Minnesota.

Anybody have any clue what McKenzie is talking about tonight tweeting about Grigorienko? He says 23 games is the cutoff for a player to have a year count toward free agency. But this year 6 and in most normal years 9 NHL games ticks toward your UFA status. But Grigorienko was just drafted. Buffalo gets his rights for 9 years instead of 7 (as long as he only plays 22 games or fewer in two of them)? That's a HUGELY underreported change in the CBA if true. It used to be 7 years from the first pro year or 27, whichever came first. So if a guy played right away, he was likely UFA by age 25. Now what McKenzie is saying is you can play past 9 (or this year 6) games and your ELC counts, but it doesn't count toward UFA. That's a huge change.

That has always been the rule; you become an UFA at 27 or you have 7 accrued seasons (40 games or more on the roster). Shortened season so that means it is down to 23 games this year.

We burned a year of Schwartz's ELC last year, but that doesn't count as an accrued season for him, so he wouldn't be UFA eligible in 2018.

So we get eight years of his rights instead of the usual seven? Wow.

Do Blackhawk fans travel that well? Or do they just have a lot of bandwagoners across the country?

I was watching the Ducks/Hawks game earlier, and for the life of me it sounded almost majority Hawks fans...in Anaheim.

I guess Hawks fly pretty far. Maybe its a road trip or just transplants. I think if the Blues had that kind of record right now we might be going all over to see them too

Greatest video ever lol.

We really don't need a slow guy though. The Hawks would torch Regehr.

Wow, Rangers just lost at home to Florida, the worst team in the league this year. Almost got shut out.

Columbus is the only team in the NHL that has scored fewer goals than the Rangers, and if both teams keep their current pace, Columbus is going to pass them. That can't happen with Nash, Richards, Gaborik etc. Someone's head is going to roll.

Lighting fired Boucher today. Little surprising, they're not making the playoffs this year regardless thought they may have just rode this out and fired him after the season.

Looks like Brendan Morrow for Joe Morrow as the main part of a Dallas-Pitt deal. Those two like to trade with each other. Pending what the other parts of such a deal are, that's a win for Dallas.

I've been following it on their board, and apparently Boston is offering Khokhlachev for Morrow, and the Pens are offering a package including Morrow. Both of those are over payments. There's going to be a bidding war with any decent player on the block.

Joe Morrow & 5th for Brendan Morrow & 3rd. That is a pretty crazy price the Penguins have paid, even given their depth of defensive prospects. Make you wonder what Iginla will get.

Doubt we do much, it is definitely a seller's market.
