Lowe? and not Kevin

Anybody else think that it would be worthwhile to take a look at Ron Lowe again? I mean the guy constantly showed that he is good with young teams. I dunno. I really don't know what the team needs. It seems like the annual slump this year is more painful then the last ones.

I think his name is spelled Ron Low. And as for him coming back to coach the team... a resounding NO would be my answer.

oh, could be, I'm not sure

But I look at what he did in his time here and it's pretty tough to complain IMO.

How about Ted Nolan (I still think MacT is a great coach but this is getting uglier and uglier and it is a difficult scenario to avoid). He left the league as the Jack Adams winner and has been blacklisted since. He is a hard nosed coach prided on effort. When you have no talent effort is a good thing - look at our neighbors to the south. They have the Sutter mentality and they are winning based on that alone. Something to think about perhaps.

Sorry guys, according to KL, this is the 100th story to talk about. So, be it and bite. It is not easy to regain control after losing it, eh, Craig?

I know things are desparate but there is nothing that could convince me that Ron Low is anything but a very bad coach.

Yah, I think Low isn't going to be a pro coach in the nhl for a little bit which is to bad because he isn't a horrible coach. The NYR coach killers help put the cap on him.

Nolan's been out of the NHL for so long I'd be worried about him. As an assistant coach sure.

Someone who would raise intrest to me is Paul Maurice (x-hurricane coach) Young guy with a loooooot of expierence.

That said ... never do I see Huddy/Mac/Simpson being let go ..... Not Unless Lowe gets cut first.

The only Lowe with any chance of being behind the Oilers bench this season is Kevin.

He (Ron Low) was at the game the other night, I forgot to mention in my game report. Saw him up on the catwalk.

Games changed too much since Nolan was in the league, that was eons ago.

He's been in obscurity a long time.

Too bad Brent Sutter never had a stint in Edmonton at one time as an Oiler player.

This way he could qualify to be a consideration for the position of coach. But without ever wearing the oil drop, he would never stand a chance to break into this great Oiler tradition that seems so important to maintain.

Don't read too much into that I see him at every home game since he was axed on Broadway.

Oh I wasn't, I assumed he hangs around a fair bit, I just hadn't seen him yet.

I second that. Robinson has stated a like for working with younger players and the NHL knows that the Oil are consistently one of the youngest teams out there.

Nolan has been out of the loop. I'm not saying that he was a bad coach, but I think too much has been made of him for having ONE good season and being coach of the year almost ten years ago. Its conspiracy theorist's choice for coach.

Ron Low? C'mon. Now we're really trying to insult MacTavish. Thome26, you're usually more solid than this with your posts. I will admit however that Ronnie has less to work with than MacT. And that I like Ronnie's team loyalty and character but....

Ronnie's Oiler record.
Ron Low 1995-1999
Regular 139-162-40 .466
Playoffs 10-18 .357

Craig MacTavish 2000-2003
Regular 113-98-35 .530
Playoffs 4-8 .333
