He has the exact same save percentage as Price... what a wasted post

If the pens meets the habs in the playoffs they will lose i hope for them they avoid us.

Somehow i just know we are facing either Ottawa or Toronto this year and it would kill me to lose to team. Imagine if the laffs beats us man i don't even...

Yandle - Diaz
Boullion

Habs trade:
Calgary's 2nd for Jagr
1st + Leblanc + Bourque for Yandle
I'd rather give our low 2nd + a semi-good prospect, than our high 2nd which is litteraly a late 1st pick.

3 seconds
2 third

3) Deep group of prospects

4) The St-Louis Blues with a 70M$ cap hit, they have to re-sign guys like Berglund, Shattenkirk, Pietrangelo and of course, Stewart.

Do we go with an offer sheet? I'm thinking about 25M$ for 5 years. I'm not really familiar with the compensation, so what will it be? Tell me what you think!
I'd first wait and see what will happen with the players you've listed. Since they want to keep their salary cap low, they'll most likely try to "under" pay him (they'll offer him the same thing as David Backes in my opinion). That's when I'd strike, I'd offer him something similar to Pacioretty, probably a bit higher too.

I think that if Therrien was able to motivate Bourque to play as he did, he'll motivate Stewart as well.

Just throw picks at the Blues until they are satisfied.

With Morrow gone, Jagr has to be next.

Weber, Dumont and a 3rd for Jagr.

As for the Chris Stewart offer sheet suggestion, those would be 2014 picks we'd have to give up. Not 2013.

I still would be terrified about giving Chris Stewart $5m for 5 years. Yes a motivated Stewart is awesome but what if we got last years Stewart?

If Morrow went for:

Quote:
Pierre LeBrun ‏@Real_ESPNLeBrun 6s
Pitt gets B. Morrow and a 3rd-round pick 2013 in exchange Dallas gets prospects Joe Morrow and a 5th-round pick 2013
You better believe Jagr will be worth more. If this is how the deadline market is shaping up, MB should stay FAR away.

No player is perfect, you have to deal with their flaws to benefit of their strenght. Perfect players are not available or not often.

That's 4.1 million annual cap.

As of today the Penguins could add 24,622,672 (from cap geek) worth of annual cap hit and still be under the cap when pro rated for the rest of this season.

IOW, they would have plenty of room to add Morrow and Iginla and more besides if that's what they wanted to do.

Of course, and I'd love Stewart on the Habs, but flaws are the reason certain players don't get generous long term contracts, especially when said flaw is a lack of motivation - and nothing slows down motivation more than a generous, long term contract.

There's a reason Bourque for instance makes what he does.

Not sure I'm comforted by an argument that basically says Therrien was able to get a decent 17 games out of Bourque, therefore ensuring a motivated consistent Stewart for 5 years won't be a problem.

Would anyone hope the team added a player from CGY, Bouwmeester? Maybe he is not in the salary structure, but losing Moen+Kaberle in the offseason would close to equal his contract. Boston and Pitt will both make moves, and the Habs can compete with both this year and should be a little bit aggressive and try and strike while the iron is hot.

I'm not saying sell the farm, but he is paid for one more year after this so he's not a rental, is very mobile and can log huge minutes, and would give the Habs the best top four in the East, especially with Diaz a question mark these days it would be nice to make a splash.

I would take him. he's 29..so he could be a part of this group going forward...i'd even give up a solid prospect and/or pick..but calgary would have to keep some salary, which they could definitely do with just one more year after this.

Not enough considering what Dallas got for Morrow
But still....i wouldn't go higher than a mid-prospect + our 2nd draft picks (Lowest of our 2nd rounder)...Leblanc+2nd at best....

Panthers aren't letting him go unless he asks, and even then we'd have to give up a lot

Would you rather give a 25 M$/ 5 year contract to David Clarkson or Chris Stewart?

Iggy plays for Iggy. It's well known that he doesn't buy into systems. He may do well in Boston, but I'm not so sure he's the guy to put you over the top. Now, had he gone to Pitt, yowza, Crosby would have had him scoring every game.

Honestly Stewart, I see clarkson as the smart investment a little overpaid but you know what you get. Stewart is a gamble but could pay off incredibly!!!

Stewart. Though Clarkson is a safer investment.

I'm not saying I wouldn't understand such a move, but it's a high risk one. A motivated Stewart would be a great fit, but if we get last year's Stewart, talk about a distraction.
