Huh, as far as I can tell this is a great return for the Stars. Let's see what B. Morrow can do for the Pens. Shero obviously feels this is the year and why not,.

I think Pitts is trying to make up for when they shafted Dallas in the Neal+Niskanen for Gologoski trade

I would laugh if the leafs face the pens and win the series. We have given them a great deal of difficulty this season

It's quite obvious they have to rebuild and get rid of some vets.

For that extreme overpayment they received, I'm pretty sure almost every playoff team would make that deal.

Morrow has been terrible for Dallas... Old, slow, and barely is a 3rd liner.

Is it not more like--Eakin 21- Benn 23,Lehtonen29--Erik 27--- Golig 27-Roy 29. And i won't even bother to add in their top prospects.

You are comparing our top line center to another teams 3rd liner who is 8 years older.
We can't lose our top C without a replacement.

MacA, maybe, depending on the offer. If we got a Morrow-like prospect offered I'm pretty sure he would've been moved by now.

If this is the price, we should trade Bozak for Coyle and CMac for Granlund. It is now market value for 3rd liners to go for top prospects

Serious overpayment on the part of the Pittsburgh Penguins IMO.

Brendan Morrow:
-34 year old upcoming UFA
-His production has dropped off steadily the past few seasons
-7th in TOI/G among Dallas Star forwards
-Doesn't kill penalties
-Doesn't produce on the PP

He is largely a physical veteran bottom 6er at this point in his career. Joe Morrow on the other hand is a recent 1st round draft pick (23rd overall in 2011) who has done nothing to hurt his value since being drafted.

As I posted elsewhere this is the equivalent to the Toronto Maple Leafs giving up:

Stuart Percy + 5th for Brenden Morrow + 3rd

..That is nasty. NO THANKS!

If the Leafs were in first place on a 11-game win streak with Crosby and Malkin on the team. Then the trade wouldn't be that far-fetched for us to make.

AHH i see.

I recall being labeled a conspiracy theorist when i brought that up some time ago.

I shy away from that line of thinking, it just leads people to flame me.

Lol... So when your team is doing extremely well you should trade all your youth for 3rd liners!

Makes sense!

The Leafs aren't cup contenders. If the Pens win the cup this year will it still be a bad trade?

Do you think Chiarelli is regretting trading a 1st, 2nd and Colborne for Kaberle?

No you trade 1 prospect (when you have Maatta, Depres, Pouliot, and Harrington along with Letang playing the same position) for a veteran leader who adds depth, toughness and helps fill out the roster for an increased chance at winning a Cup.

1 defensive prospect when you have 5 highly touted ones is hardly all your youth. There's only so many potential d-man spots on the team.
