Joe Morrow is a darn good prospect. Steep price is right.

First year in the AHL and his numbers are down from what they were in the WHL.

Fantastic analysis here!

Considering Morrow got Morrow in return, we could get a lot more than a 1st for Gaborik. Really doubt their priority is getting picks and prospects back.

This.

He's not bad, it's a decent move for Pitts. Nothing that makes them much better, though.

...Though getting fed by Crosby or Malkin he'll probably put up 90 goals.

If B. Morrow is worth a first tier prospect like J. Morrow plus, then Gaborik should be worth a first born child.

Joe Morrow is an excellent prospect. Big, skilled, good shot. Definitely has a ton of upside. Would be an unbelievable pickup for Nieuwendyk, especially for Morrow.

But, that said, Pittsburgh DOES become a better team NOW from this move. It's terribly short-sighted, but it improves and adds some leadership to an already top-notch forward lineup.

I feel bad for the team that will trade for Gaborik if thats the return for Morrow, with a lesser market of forwards and Sather at the helm I wouldnt be suprised if we get a 1st, top 6 winger and a top prospect like Yevgeni Kuznetsov coming back our way....

Pittsburgh also has Despres, Maata, Dumoulin, Pouliot, Harrington in the system besides Morrow.

Exactly. They could afford to move one of their defensive prospects for a veteran leader and hard nosed player like Morrow. They needed a player like him in their forward lineup. Their next Bill Guerin.

Pitt just raised the prices on rentals this deadline.
They overpaid for a 35 year old winger who has been struggling recently.

Sellers market.
