I just looked at Akeson's age. I thought he was a lot older than 22.

London win 3-2 in 2OT. Stolarz saved 41 of 42. That's either a mistake or Saginaw scored on a delayed penalty. London now up 2-0 in the series.

Anthony Stolarz just had a humongous game in a 3-2 double OT win. The box score says 41 saves on 42 shots, but pretty sure it should say 41 saves on 43 shots (since Saginaw scored 2 goals).

One of the goals was on a 5 on 3 PP.

Stolarz stopped back to back breakaways at one point (I know, I know that's impossible according to BP1974). By my count, he stopped at least 5 breakaways total this game.

His opposing goalie had to make 67 saves though... wow.

I'm not sure what happened there. The scoring decision seems to be final... did they just mess up or is there some weird OHL rule about scoring a 2 man powerplay or something?

the shooters on the other team must of choked then right?

in all seriousness its weird having a legit goalie prospect on the team.

hopefully by the time hes ready Jeff Reese still doesnt insist that Leighton is a great backup goalie option.

It could have been on a delayed penalty too. Similar to what happened in the Carolina/NJ game the other night with Brodeur.

I was watching though and I didn't notice any delayed penalty (feed was crappy, but still). Couldn't find anyone else commenting on it either. It Stolarz was in net, there were only 3 skaters on the ice for London and 5 on the ice for Saginaw... I can't figure out why it wouldn't be a goal against...

Laughton has a goal and an assist after the first period. He's by far the best player on the ice right now

ADK won 4-2. Flanagan with an assist. Nobels McGinn Dimmen and Wellwood with the goals. Heeter stopped 40 of 42

Make that 1 goal + 2 assists for Laughton thus far.

Laughton has the best points per games played so far (only 2 games, but still). 6 points in 2 games.

Curious, in the playoffs, does putting up points like this in the OHL actually mean more than just the regular season (in terms of what we can expect from him at a higher level)?

No. Most prospects put up much higher PPG in the playoffs.

Yeah you're it's an error on their part. I just watched the highlights and Stolarz gave up 2 goals.

Wellwood sure has fallen off the map. I've never been the biggest fan of his, but I thought he could at least eventually turn into a decent energy guy. He seems to be having a brutal year in ADK and in terms of call-ups, he's fallen behind Z, McGinn and maybe even Akeson

Laughton's been playing at a whole new level since he returned from Flyers camp. I've never seen him play with more drive and determination. He's been a mission - almost as if someone within the Flyers organization had a talk with Laughton about just pushing himself a little harder. I know that Laperriere has weekly conversations with all the junior prospects, so I'm wondering if maybe Laperriere dropped a little motivational speech on Laughton (not like he needed one) and really helped push Laughton's game to another level. Either way, this should be one player that everyone should be giddy over when he finally arrives. I've read people on here who think Laughton won't amount to much, but this is a guy who is probably going to be a far better pro player than he was a junior player.

He finished with a hat trick. SSM won 5-3. Owen Sound still leads the series 2-1.

I suspect it has a lot to do with a combination of natural progression and "the taste". Once you get a taste of playing at the highest level, I'm sure its a monster motivator to get back there as quickly as possible. He got to see the speed and skill at the NHL level and I'm sure that those 5 games and even the limited NHL camp were huge motivators themselves.

I love reading about Laperriere being such a good influence (despite his ill-thought out comments re Cousins) on these junior prospects. Laughton in particular would be well served to emulate Laperriere's work ethic, and it looks like this drive is having a significant effect right now. He may well may the Flyers out of camp next year, even though I'd like to see him spend a year with the Phantoms, both for his development and to make the players around him better.

I didn't get to see any Phantoms games before the lockout ended. Did Schenn and Couts play on the same line when they were there together?

I was thinking that if they were I wouldn't mind trying to put them on the same line this year or next.
