As for Matt Finn, he has become a pretty solid prospect in our organization and I would like to see how he progresses. He may be a Giordano type player in 2-3 years.
Well thats all very nice, Calgary will be looking to get valuable pieces back for Giordano.

If the Leafs aren't willing to part with any, he wont be going there.

Gio is only 29 and is signed for 3 more years after this, he fits TO for the next 5-8 years.

We would probably still want a 1st or 2nd + Colborne.

Most Leafs fans are looking to dump Gunnar but the add would be Finn/Percy plus a 5th

I don't expect the Flames to deal Gio for nothing and I am completely fine on passing on this deal if it doesn't make sense for the Leafs. IMO, the Leafs are not in position to deal away 1st rd picks and prospects for players that don't exactly put us over the hump. If the Leafs were serious contenders, it's another story but not when the Leafs could very easily lose the next 10 games in a row and see themselves out of the playoff picture, I don't think it's worth the risk for Giordano.

It's time the Leafs do this right. The have exceeded expectations this season but lets not get carried away. The Leafs are still a fringe team and they need to stay on course.
The Flames would have much better luck dealing with a contender than they would with Toronto.

1st is off the table for obvious reasons, one being we would need a star player coming back if our 1st is being packaged. Gio is a nice player, but not enough of an impact player to warrant giving up such an important pick. I really think the offer of Finn + 2nd is the best the Leafs could do. We are deep in high end defensive prospects and should be going after established d-men in an attempt to reach the next level. Finn should be a really good player in the NHL, I'm just not sure how long his development is going to take.

Liles has 3 years left on his deal and is older than Giordano. This trade makes zero sense for the Flames.

Brossoit is god awful.

We're not trading Finn.

You can keep Giordano.

Flames need more than just Matt Finn. Why would we trade Giordano for a player who one day might be as good as Giordano? There aren't a lot of defensemen on the market right now, and if Gio was made available, there would be plenty of teams who could top an offer of Matt Finn and a middling second rounder.

Garrett Sparks is so much better than Brossoit.

Laurent was dreadful at the WJC camp. Absolutely terrible.

Based on what exactly? He only has 3 more wins despite playing in almost 20 more games. Brossoit has a lower GAA and their SV% is identical.

And since he was cut from the camp Brossoit has been one of the best goalies in the CHL.

Finn's not going anywhere and neither is a 1st. Don't give me no "typical Laff fan giving no quality" ******** either. Colborne+Ashton+2nd is what i'd offer and that's fair IMO. Calgary's gotta start filling up their prospect pool as fast as they can.

Honestly i wouldn't even trade Colborne. I like Gio as a player and would love to have him on the Leafs. But the max price i'd pay is:

Gunner +
one of: 2nd / Mckegg / Ross

probably not enough to peak Flames fans interest though

Right now it's a sellers market.

To buy you need to over pay this year.

Yea the blues fans have agreed to Cole + Rattie, I don't think any team could top that but I think Gunnar + Jow + 2nd is a solid offer.

The last thing the Leafs need to do is trade an excellent prospect like Matt Finn. This guy has leadership qualities and was a STEAL at where the Leafs got him in the draft. I am even hesitant to deal Colborne who has really started to play well with the Marlies after an injury plagued year before. I like Gio as well, but the Leafs should wait until the offseason where they can flex their financial muscle to try and get someone from a team struggling with the cap/free agency.
