First Round: #6 Moncton vs. #11 Victoriaville

Victo are a great home team, and might be pissed off about last years embarrassing debacle in the post season ...

Moncton have mainly underachived so far, but have the tools to go far in thd playoffs ... They have a lot of skill, but a lot of chemistry issues overall ... It's a matter of "will they get hot"? Dubeau included ...
Wildcats in 6.

Schedule

Game 1 - Fri Mar 22 | 7:00 PM | Victoriaville 3 @ Moncton 0

Game 2 - Sat Mar 23 | 7:00 PM | Victoriaville 2 @ Moncton 3 OT

Game 3 - Tue Mar 26 | 7:00 PM | Moncton 5 @ Victoriaville 6

Game 4 - Wed Mar 27 | 7:00 PM | Moncton @ Victoriaville

Game 5 - Fri Mar 29 | 7:00 PM | * Moncton @ Victoriaville

Game 6 - Mon Apr 1 | 7:00 PM | * Victoriaville @ Moncton

Game 7 - Tue Apr 2 | 7:00 PM | * Victoriaville @ Moncton

Victoriaville leads series 2-1

I think Moncton will be out to show the world that they are for real. I think Whitney steals a game, but it'll be Moncton in 5.

Moncton in 5, could be long if they don't get great goaltending.

Friday and Saturday are going to be a mess for parking. The Greater Moncton Home Show starts Friday in the Moncton Coliseum Agrena. It runs until 9pm on both Friday and Saturday, which means patrons of the Home Show and of the Wildcats are going to be fighting for parking space.

I feel like this will be the 1st round upset with Vic winning in 6. I'm not counting Val d'Or winning as an upset.

Victo takes game 1... 3-0.

I don't know if anything's televised outside of Quebec, and we in the Maritimes probably don't get those anyways ... Sounds like Victo really outworked them tonight ... Fans want Jaskin to push back from the shadowing he's receiving ... Not surprised Victo took a game, Moncton have to put it all together again, and they should have no trouble winning ....

Or maybe Whitney will give them fits, could be a good series.

Would have liked to have seen that game. Wonder if this is a sign of things to come from Whitney

Moncton take game #2 in OT. Final score , 3-2. Philip Danault was the game's first star with 1 goal and 2 helpers

Kind of funny Phillip Danault is the reason Victoriaville isn't up 2-0 right now in the series considering they traded him at the deadline. I realize they didn't think they could compete this season but I guess they didn't think Whitney would be playing out of his mind.

Just crazy that Victoriaville was able to get this to OT and 17 minutes passed before Moncton finally won it on the power play with Danault's goal.

SHOTS ON GOAL:
1st period: Moncton 16 shots, Victoriaville 5 shots
2nd period: Moncton 14 shots, Victoriaville 8 shots
3rd period: Moncton 12 shots, Victoriaville 8 shots
Overtime: Moncton 16 shots, Victoriaville 8 shots
TOTAL: Moncton 58 shots, Victoriaville 29 shots

Brandon Whitney so far this series has stopped 92 of 95 shots for a .969 SV%. That is just crazy. As a Hawks fan, I hope he continues to do great and same with Danault, who had a point on all 3 goals for Moncton tonight and scored the game winner.

in fairness, i was not at the game, but i did talk to 3 people who were there and they all said this kid was playing lights out! How he didnt get first star is a mystery. The comment all three made was the if this kid keeps playing like this, and Victo can use the last line change to keep Jaskin in check - the wildcats could be in trouble.

The first round is always the toughest...

He gives them a shot every night, Dubeau has to be up to the task.

Moncton really impressed me in game 2. I got the Cats tonight despite Whitney's brilliance.

Jaskin is pointless through 2 games, just a matter of time behind he puts up 4 or 5 in one.

He may not have been on the scoresheet but remains a key factor for their win. Although not credited with an assist, he was on the ice for all 3 goals and responsible for two in game #2. He also receives steady attention from Victo's key defenders which is relieving alot of pressure from the Cats other top players. This series is going to be a battle but I doubt Whitney can play as good as he has for the entire series. As soon as his hot streak cools off, the Wildcats are going to explode.

Biggest game of the year for both teams, of course that's just stating the obvious... Point is, I believe winner of game 3 takes the series.

If Jaskin can break free of Delisle, he could solve an amazing tender like Whitney.

3-2 Cats OT.

5-2 Cats midway through the 3rd period. Veilleux and Alex Saulnier each with 2 goals. Alex with 2 assists as well. Johnston's not looking too rusty in his return to the lineup.
