Now I feel like we have four good coaches and three goalies. Weird. But, then again, as much as we loved Fisher and Kelly and those guys we had to part with - not like we ever won with them, right? Heart over head.
I kinda agree with that, but even Clouston looked like a good coach the first year. I still think our bad year had more to do with players playing through injuries (Alfie, Fisher, etc.) and bad goaltending than bad coaching or a bad group of players (that same team and same coach had done marvels just a year earlier). Our play picked up once we got Anderson and we traded Fisher and co. I feel that I'd rather have lots of injured players who stay home than fewer injuries but where the injured players play through them.

The players have said that Clouston lacked communication. He also got let go from his coaching job in the WHL. He still has stuff to learn.

Sure, and I'm not going to defend Clouston here (would be hard to do). All I'm saying is that I feel our team had bigger problems than coaching, and those bigger problems were goaltending and too many players playing through injuries. How else would you explain how the same team under Clouston played so well a year before, and how the team picked up after the Anderson, Fisher, Kovalev etc. deals?

Sidney Craaaahsby beats Bryzgalov five hole 5 on 3. Its crazy how their PP just revolves around getting him one timers from the top of the right circle. It used to be him feeding Malkin or Gonchar for those. Paul Martin is having a phenomenal year there being the PPQB.

Cedrik Deshardins (sp) just did a horrible dive. That was awful, Wheeler barely touched him and he went flying back and threw his helmet off.

As if they weren't already the favorites in the east, they went and got that missing piece. He's going to bring much needed veteran presence as well as lots of toughness. Watch out the Pens might just get the whole enchilada this year.

I wish diving was more penalized. I refuse to watch soccer because of the theatrics.

I refuse to get hyped about Pittsburgh until they prove they won't collapse in the first round.

I refuse to get hyped about Pittsburgh until they prove they can actually play team defense instead of always having a forward cherry pick at the red line.

omg that drove me nuts watching them. It seems sometimes like they are on the PK when in their own end because Malkin is sitting my himself behind the D waiting for a chance at a break away.

Quite happy tonight, I considered Joe Morrow my favourite prospect that isn't in the Senators system.

His shot is something else.

Dallas-1
Pittsburgh-1

Don't even...

I swear to God. I haven't watched it yet.

Joe Morrow is an excellent prospect but when six of your top seven prospects are defensemen (Hockey News Future Watch) it's a trade you can afford to make. Dallas should win long term but Brenden Morrow increases the odds of Pittsburgh winning a Cup this year and next.

I'm also pretty pumped about the Walking Dead finale next week. Great show last night.

Tampa Bay have fired the wrong guy. Guy Boucher has lost his job due to the inability of Steve Yzerman to provide him with NHL caliber goaltending.

I agree. It's a sad trend in the NHL where more often than not, the wrong guy is fired due to the inability of a GM. Edmonton is one of the biggest examples of this and Columbus was as well, for a long time.

I kinda agree, but wonder if the two issues are mutually exclusive. Boucher may have lost the team regardless of having poor goaltending. Kinda like Clouston. He sucked but an argument could be made that he didn't have a fair chance to win due to crap goaltending. It was still the right move to fire him.

But as for Boucher, I do think he got a bit of a raw deal.

I doubt that Yzerman acquired Lindback to be the answer in net right now.

He had appeared in 38 NHL games when they traded for him. He has a lot of potential, but being a starter in this league takes time- just look at Anderson's path.

Boucher was being tuned out by his players. Firing Yzerman doesn't change that.

2 minutes for the penalty and 4 minutes for the dive would clean up diving attempts quickly.

Gonchar really did a number on Chara here.
