I like to rain on the canceled parade, it's zero.

The team looks much different than it did just a week ago. We added Laich Green Oleksy and Orlov. That is 3 guys all were counting on being in the lineup.
Yes. We can really count on Mike Green stay in the lineup.

2 more pts.

5pts outta 1st in SE (about to be)

2pts outta 8th (NYR game in hand, CAR 2 gih)

10th in the East.

Not the best game played, but the Caps did enough to get the 2pts. Shame the Rags got 1, as Caps really should have been up 2-3 goals after 2 periods.

But as Alan May just said "they're back in it, they're in the playoff hunt".

6pts on that 4 game road trip. Not bad....

That said,

MoJo is so stupid with the puck. Just thought I'd let that out.

On the plus side, he typically loses the puck immediately, so his stupidity isn't all that costly.

I was listening on the radio tonight, and it was amazing how consistently Walton describe a turnover after every mention of Majo.

I'm rooting for the kid to put it together, but he's got a loooong way to go.

He skates so well....

This stupid team might actually make the playoffs. It's also amazing how much better Ovechkin is when the PP is good. He feeds off it.

Come on, positive thinking. I think we can forget about landing in the top three in the draft, but with a little luck we can get somehow slide into the bottom five or six (which means Barkov, Lindholm or Monahan -- not too shabby)

There was one shift in the middle of the 3rd, where MaJo skates smoothly in down the right wing, gets around his defender to the goal line and tries to center the puck into the slot or back to the point... He does this twice on the same shift. Both times he puts the puck right on the stick of his defender. Great skater, turble playmaker.

The Ovechkin line looks much better with MJ. He still has some developing to do but his speed just makes the opposing D give up the blue line. Seen it time and time again.

He's played well since he came back.

So it looks like it takes 15 games to learn the Oates system (TOS). Like i said, I would be surprised it would take 25, but I guess our boys are smarter than we all thought

Laich may steal all the credit but he wasn't here when the turnaround started. The tending/defense has improved, and the scoring has increased... so what else is there, its more likely the system. Look at that GD spread, the new buzzword.

Watch out for teams that believe in themselves. Look how far we got last year in the playoffs with that deadweight -20 pairing of Wideman Sarge in tow.

Someone email Pucks chart to Ted to showcase the spread up on his blog.

Caps certainly look like a different team. The turnaround started with that 8-3 stretch they had until injuries finally overtook them.

Now they have gotten a bunch of guys back and looks worlds different.

We'll see if they can keep it up but I'm hopeful they can so long as they stay healthy.

Players returning from injury has certainly helped, and I credit the return of Laich most of all.

Really impressed/surprised by Laich's play to this point in his return. Its like he has been playing all year. No real rust that I can see, and he even looks more aggresive than I remember him playing in the past. I wonder if he can sustain his current level of play, or will he hit a wall at some point?

Regardless, right now, that 2nd line is very formidable with him on it.

Johansson has been good on the 1st line too. This bumps back 2 players into the later lines which has a ripple effect throughout the lineup and players are slotted correctly.

Same goes for the D. Green and Orlov have been crucial and even Hillen has at least made Schultz sit in the press box.

Now Hendricks isn't playing on the 1st line and can settle into his natural role and go against competition more suited to his skillset for instance.

Here's a suggestion, contract extensions for all. This team is a Cup winner I'm sold.

Green isn't guilty. The whole team started the game with pants full of crap. The first period has made the result.
