Where is Kaberle?

I don't understand: Kaberle is about to play is 1000th game in the NHL and he sits for Tinordi or Pateryn. I don't get it!

You don't get it? lol You just answered your own question. Instead of playing an old washed up bum in kabs we are playing some young guys because Kaberle will not be here next year. Plain and simple. close thread

Habs save coughing up for the silver stick
Instead they pay for a one way ticket home

I'm sure he can still generate some offense on PP but he is too soffff and too weak on defense. Markov and Subban are already taking care of PP production so he is essentially useless.

I prefer to give a chance and develop our future than have Kaberle play.

The guy deserves a better treatment even if he's a bit soft

Probably trying to trade him, and afraid he will get hurt and they can't buy him out in July.

Sure he does,
By the Leafs maybe
Unfortunately, he doesn't have the history here to merit the "better treatment", as far as I'm concerned $4.5 million is good treatment enough

By the looks of things. Kaberle will have to play the 16 remaining games, to reach that milestone, somewhere else.

To conduct a buyout. Even in this amnesty era, The player must be healthy. For Therrien to insert Kaberle. The injury bug would have to be rampant. Montreal doesn't want to take that risk.

Based on ability alone. Giving up Spacek for Kaberle was okay. What wasn't smart was inheriting Kaberle's contract. Which expires next summer.

I hope that he plays for us in the Stanley Cup Playoffs as a fifth or sixth defenseman because we need experience and offense to go through Ottawa. Can you still buyout if the player is hurt in playoffs?

You can't buyout an injured player no matter how the injured occurred, even if it happened off ice.

I think he's a far better and more saavy as a defenseman than Bouillon or Emelin or Diaz. His contract isn't even that bad considering how much he DOES produce. Seems pretty off-putting that Bergevin would extend Bouillon (midway through a winning season, playing next to fn Subban) but not want Kabs to play... At least then trade or waive the guy for his own sake - he's good enough for the NHL.

If he said anything through his agent or directly to the media it would be even worse. You can't discredit a guy for keeping his mouth shut for the good of team harmony.

I agree that Kaberle should be in the line-up though.

No reason he's been exiled, he was playing well before his recent scratching. Really just a shame.

The habs are currently in a good spot to get home-ice advantage in the PO. Sure MT can give Kaberle some TOI but by giving guys like Tinordi or Pateryn a chance to get NHL experience he's looking to improve the lineup next season. When Diaz is back we will have forgotten about the existence of Kaberle.
