Darren Dreger
@DarrenDreger
Source say the Pens and Stars have a trade in place for Brendan Morrow. However, he has yet to waive no trade clause.

The problem with Grabo has been consistency. There are games where he is a puck possessing machine with a great shot and passes produced by great vision.

Other games for long stretches; he goes into invisibility mode.

It's hard having that type of player in a top 6 center role. It's part of the reason he has barely been tried on the top line.

He also gets lined up with complimentary players; so his performance will reflect on the performance of his line.

Good deal for Pittsburgh and Dallas, I think. Morrow should fit right in with the Pens.

LOL love the sarcasm from Matt haha
I think the whole Corsi and Fenwick is flawed. Better question should be how can a team outplay and outshoot their opponent 38 to 13 and still lose.

You realize Fenwick is that same shot differential but adds missed shots and goals right?

I am sensing Boston garret but it has been a while so I may be wrong......my thoughts are the east! In some ways it would be fun to see him on a line with Crosby or Malkin but I think he would fit like a glove with Boston.

I'm partially being silly haha

Rumours are they have to be into signing a 2 year extension to trade him...
Interesting...

That's understandable. Rental players on UFA contract years aren't worth that much to warrant too much going the other way, and it's just as likely that Iginla would walk in the off season and sign with Calgary again.

Douglas Murray to the Pens? They sure seem to be loading up, no? Pens will be 'battle tough' in this year's playoffs.

Edit: for a pair of 2nd round picks. May have set the Hainsey trade value, no? He'd be worth a similar return.

And for two 2nd-rounders. Ouch.

One is conditional, Murray needs to resign with the Pens if SJ wants that pick.

I think with the way Hainsey and Murray have played this year that Hainsey is worth a lot more. Murray hasn't been good.

I agree, Murray hasn't played well, though he's more 'playoff proven' than Hainsey and plays a physical, shutdown role that teams covet in the playoffs.

If Hainsey can return a 1st, I think Chevy should jump at it.

Some changes about to come in SJ? perhaps this is the start. There has been speculation they could make a big move or two to change things up.

I like this move for the Pens. Murray may not be the guy he was a couple/few seasons ago, but he is still a big, tough and physical defenseman and he'll likely fit in well there. With the additions of Morrow and Murray, the Pens have gotten a lot tougher. Likely gearing up here to face off against bigger and physical teams like Boston and LA come playoff time.

You're right. I think Hainsey is the better D man, but Murray plays a different role (physical) and that is a valued component as well.

Hainsey can play big minutes, pk, and is a vet. He may not provide much offense, but in a 4/5 role, he can bring a lot to the table.

I can see a team like the Bruins add him, for an upgrade on Ference

Interesting, wonder if the Bruins are going to make counter moves in light of the Pens moves?

Hainsey for Mcquid + a 2nd rd? or 3rd?

I am very up in the air with Hainsey's trade value with all the recent crazy trade values.

Use Mcquaid as a mildly younger and bigger/meaner upgrade on Stuart

then flip Stuart.

Probably not agreed upon by anyone but I like how Mcquaid plays ha.

Agreed.

He is an excellent offensive force in the league.

"Through 30 games this season, the Russian sniper has eight goals and 22 assists with a plus-18 rating. He is tied for 11th among all NHL skaters in assists this season, and tied for 10th in plus/minus rating.

Drafted by the Washington Capitals in the first round (13th overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Semin has 499 career NHL games under his belt with 205 goals, 233 assists and a career plus- 83 rating."
