It should have been done 2 weeks ago. Creativity on offense is not something we should be afraid of. Kreider-Boyle-Zooks will score and give the team 3 lines.

Zucc won't be here. He doesn't grind with jam and he brings creative offense, a part of the game Torts doesn't worry about anyway.

Seems like it's a done deal, Zucc's agent confirms he will report to the Rangers as soon as the last details with Metallurg is finalized.

Done deal, waiting for Magna to sign the papers.

http://www.aftonbladet.se/sportblade...cle16481525.ab

(the agent says that he has received a proposal from NYR (which doesn't in itself sounds that definite) but also that they are "waiting" for his KHL team to sign the papers (which definitely indicates that its a done deal, since the only papers for Magnitorsk to sign is Zucc's release papers))

Great news, even though I am going to the WC in Stockholm in may and had hoped to see him play

Agent Ryman told norwegian newspaper that the contract was only for the rest of this season. Thought Zucc wanted a 2 year contract, but OK.

Anyway, Im not taking anything serious before its official.

Google translate:

He left the New York Rangers to play in the KHL.
Now return Mats Zuccarello, 25, to the club and become teammate with, among others, Henrik Lundqvist, Anton Strålman and Carl Hagelin.
- We have received a contract proposal from the Rangers and just waiting for everything to go off without a hitch, says Zuccarellos Swedish agent Erik Ryman.
Mats Zuccarello left Modo and top division in 2010 after a successful season, where he won the league points (64 points in 55 matches). The spelskicklige Norwegian signed for the New York Rangers, but the time in Manhattan was part of a disappointment. Zuccarello sent between the Rangers and the minor league AHL.
Before this season, he chose to leave North America and wrote instead of a two-year contract with the KHL club Metallurg Magnitogorsk, where he scored 28 points in 44 games in the regular season. The contract was, however, a clause for NHL games and it is the one that Zuccarello now chooses to use.
"Waiting for it to go off without a hitch"
Rangers still have rights to Mats Zuccarello and now want the club to have him back:
- We have received a contract proposal from the Rangers and waiting for everything to go off without a hitch. Metallurg must sign and approve the transfer, said Erik Ryman.
The star-studded Rangers teammate he is, among others, Rick Nash, Brad Richards and Swedish trio Lundqvist, Strålman and Hagelin.
To Zuccarello now returning to the NHL also means that he will most likely not be available for World Cup games. This means that the Tre Kronor not need to meet the Norwegian Star in the group stage of the World Cup on May 8

Surprised he took a one year deal. Maybe he worked out something with metallurg which allows him to come back.

Hopefully he sticks this time.

As reported elsewhere by BBKers, don't be suprised if he is swinged elsewhere in a trade.

I wanna see him play. Put him on with Stepan and Nash. If he works out there, we "free" Hagelin and Gabby for a 2nd line of Hags-BR-Gabby and we get a strong 3rd with Callahan on it. Zucc could also really help our PP.

Nash-Stepan-Zucc
MDZ-Richards

What we really miss is a left handed playmaker on the PP, that BR can set up the play with on the right side. Stick Nash behind/infront the net and Stepan/Cally on the left side.

But, in line with what BBKers is reporting that he has heard, it doesn't at all seem improbable that we sign and trade him. Especially if he all of a sudden takes a 1 year deal.

If he signed today, when is he ready for playing?

And until Metallurg signs the papers, Im not celebrating.

Is this a sure thing?

That seems to suggest he would probably be back with Magnitogorsk next season.

Considering he has an out-clause (reportedly) in his KHL contract, exactly what ability does Metallurg have to hold this up?

Technically speaking, probably as soon as he can get over the pond (a day or two probably) and pass the Rangers medical check. I imagine all paperwork is done as he was a Ranger a year ago (work Visa or whatever is needed). I think that should be it ?

hehe, thats true enough. It shouldnt technically be a problem though, as he has a clause in his contract. But we'll see

Maybe he accepted the 1 year deal just to prove himself to the league? Play great and hope for a nice contract from somewhere?

Eh, i don't see that happening. He fills a huge need that we need, it would make zero sense to trade him.

They brought back the midget. The rental market must be very expensive.

Its only for the rest of this season. No option years in the NHL.

I'm still trying to figure out where he fits in the lineup. I mean he is positively worthless outside of a top six roll.

We still have our dumb grind/cycle system which his size is a detriment. I got nothing against him. I think he is a talented guy..but ehh

He could be used on third line, providing skill. Put him on the wing, Newbury/Miller at C and Kreider at LW and we got a far more skilled line. A player like Kreider could really benefit from a playmaker like Zucca. And Miller/Kreider/Newbury all would make up for his lack of size. Then add him on the PP and hope that it improves.

Wouldn't get my hopes up right yet. If Aftonbladet has based their article on the Norwegian newspaper VG, then they have done some serious bad translation.

His agent in VG: "Det er mye som skal stemme for at det skal gå i orden"
...meaning: "There is a lot of things that has to be in order for this to actually happen."

His agent in Aftonbladet: "Vi har fått ett kontraktsförslag från Rangers och väntar bara på att allt ska gå i lås"
...meaning: "We have received a contract offer from Rangers, and we are just waiting for everything to get confirmed."

Rick Nash - - Brad Richards (A) - Marian Gaborik
Carl Hagelin - Derek Stepan - Ryan Callahan (C)
Chris Kreider - Miller - Zuccarello
Darroll Powe/Pyatt- Kris Newbury/Boyle - Arron Asham

Something like that
