so... does he get buried on the bench or...

hagelin/richards/gaborik
nash/stepan/callahan
kreider/miller/zucc
asham/boyle/powe|pyatt

suffice to say, our offensive depth has just shot up a tier.

Great news.

Hope he's here for next year, too, where maybe he can help this club do things in the playoffs.

I don't think it works because if your going to utilize miller as third line center you need a really good back checker on one of his wings. Cally would make more sense with Miller.

yeah I don't like the second line. Nash has looked better at the RW. I am getting tired of Cally overriding our elite shooters. Its silly...

Nope. That'd only be the case if he signed with another team (aka the Calgary-O'Reilly situation).

Norwegian Head coach Roy Johansen to norwegian newspaper VG:

" Avgjørelsen er hans. Og han har bestemt seg for å reise. Da ønsker vi ham lykke til, og håper at Rangers ikke går til sluttspillet, sier Johansen til VG i formiddag"

English: "The decision is his. And he have decided to go. We therefore wish him all of luck and we are hoping the rangers wont make the playoffs".

Pretty weird for a coach to wish that another team wont make the playoffs so he can have his little wizard for himself.

I don't find it that weird. Especially since he is appreciated over there.

Anyway, how long before he is benched and scratched for the rest of the season? Torts must be hating this move. Can't wait for people to turn on this move.

Yeah, Zucc has been on our reserve list and I am sure ROR was on Colorado's reserve list, but not on Calgary's reserve list natrually.

Good news, but i am very surprised he signed a one year contract. Even if he gets, lets say, 1.5 million in NY, thats a lot of money he is giving up for (what could be) only 15-17 games (depending on when he gets here) if NYR do not make the PO's.
There must be more to this deal. Intention to resign? Agreement to trade rights for next season?
Anyways, he atleast makes it very clear to any doubters that he really wants to be a Ranger.

I can't imagine Sather doing this move without Torts giving a thumbs up. Plus, its a one way contract.

So either Torts plays him, or Sather signs Zucc and flips him.

Im just afraid he wont get the opportunity to show what hes good for. If he can create something on the PP and add some skill to our 3rd line, he will be appreciated.

Apparently his agent believes he could sign an extension at the end of this season?

I don't think he'd have much trouble getting a wealthy contract in Europe again if it doesn't work out here.

Correct. He's actually on the Rangers' Restricted Free Agent List (and subsequently, the Reserve List) because the Ranger's qualified him last year.

The MOU for the new CBA stipulates that any player on a club's Reserve List and Restricted Free Agent List is exempt from Article 13.23 in the event of a mid-season signing.

For reference:

For the balance of the Playing Season, any such Player who has been obtained via Waivers may be Traded or Loaned only after again clearing Waivers or through Waiver claim.

Again, I'm trying to figure out where he fits. He has to play in a top six role to be any use imo...

I guess it could kinda work if he can play LW. I know when Zucc played in Hartford he said he doesn't care what side he played..

Yes he probably could, but for someone that seems pretty hell bent on playing in the NHL, going back and forth like that wont help your chances. I can imagine that teams (on both sides of the pond) would be sceptical if he had a history like that.

Where does Fast fit in? I don't want any kids rotting on the fourth line.

Its a sad day here when Mats Zuccarello is looked at as the offensive saving grace.

good, this team cant score and this kid has talent, in shootouts where the extra pt means a ton right now and the PP

surprised he took a one way deal if so but good to have him on board.

so a few practices and in?

meh cally isn't moving sides. tort's won't do it. cally sucks on the other wing. zucc wasn't great over there either(though i'd trust him swapping more than cally)... and of the two big wingers nash can play his opposite side better than gaborik.

The guy is talented, but I don't see him as a guy who can transform our team. We have too many systemic problems at this point.

I'm not sure if anyone would help at this point.
