@BradBiggs: #Bears sign LB James Anderson to a 1-year contract. Good fit for scheme. He was released by #Panthers in cap move earlier this month.
Emery keeps making smart moves. This is a great addition. Admittedly, the SAM position was never the most important in our scheme, as plays get funneled Briggs's way. Still, two low-cost with good upside signings from Emery.
At the very least, this gives us draft flexibility to do whatever we want (BPA), and also doesn't put us in a cap bind next year. At best, he's put two solid linebackers on this team who have some solid talent and play-making abilities, while getting the team younger at the position.
Good moves all around. Really looking forward to this draft again (after being concerned being down two LBs).
And Williams struggled these past few years and is trainwreck off field and Anderson is below average starter (Roach is better)
I'll feel better when we add a solid LB Prospect from this year's draft. All the risks you pointed out are valid. I think that James Anderson will be at least as good as Roach. Urlacher is a loss due to his leadership on the field Captaining that defense, and in the locker room, but physically, at this stage of career, Williams can more than make up for him. You're right though, Williams has to stay on the field.
Still, I think we made the right moves so far. Can't wait for the draft.
I like those signings. Urlacher acted like a child and was a Lovie guy. Something on the "new" team we don't need. Vocal guys that are done and offer nothing more than acting up in the future. Urlacher should have been happy about the 2 million offer like Kreutz was with his offer. Kreutz got a contract in the end, don't see it with Urlacher.
