Trouba responsible for the irish go ahead goal. Miscommunication with his partner. Id hate for his college career to end like this.

I wouldn't pin that goal on Trouba by any stretch.

I agree. That was a mess-up by the forward. Trouba was left in no-man's land.

Having said that, Trouba could probably use some more development. He looks like he is going to be fantastic, but he still has to refine his game. Still, I wouldn't be all that surprised if he was signed for next year.

On another note, Jon Merrill (UMich D) looked absolutely terrible. He made a ton of bad decisions with the puck. I would be a bit depressed if he was a Jets' draftee.

Bob McKenzie was speculating about it on twitter..

I doubt management expected that he would put them in a position to be thinking about signing him after his freshman season, but at this point really it would be doing a disservice to the team to not at least kick some tires.

There really isn't that much more he could have done this season to raise his stock any higher as a prospect.

Reviewing it, definitely not all his fault. He had two guys to cover.

The announcers noted that the Jets had 5 personnel at the game, so they're giving him a good look (unless they were focusing on Serville).

More Trouba talk:

Chris Peters ‏@chrismpeters 1h
For Michigan, attention now turns to freshman Jacob Trouba. Will he stay or will he sign with Winnipeg? We'll probably know soon.
Expand
Patrick King ‏@SNPatrickKing 1h
@chrismpeters I say Winnipeg. Still some hockey left for him to play this season. He looks ready for pro from what I've seen.
Expand
Chris Peters ‏@chrismpeters 1h
@SNPatrickKing As of last week, it sounded like he was leaning toward saying. He's definitely ready for WPG right now, though. Up to him.
Expand
Patrick King ‏@SNPatrickKing 1h
@chrismpeters he'll be an impact player whenever he gets there. I'm sure the Jets will put the full-court press on now.
Expand
Sean Lafortune ‏@SeanLafortune 16m
@SNPatrickKing @chrismpeters Based on the convo's I've had in rinks, they offer him a contract. Plan would be NHL, AHL the backup.

Patrick King ‏@SNPatrickKing 6m
@SeanLafortune @chrismpeters Sound like a good plan. I'm sure he'd fit in just fine in Winnipeg.

Was Serville as sophmore or junior?

Sophomore.
IMO I think he could become a decent depth D and probably help out the IceCaps as well... but he'll be a long term 4 years of NCAA project.

Bob McKenzie said earlier this year that he thought , his opinion , that Jacob Trouba was ready to play in the NHL next yer. Based on his observations and I would believe his vast hockey network of scouts etc.

The Jets may feel that the collegiate level won't be the best place for his development next year and that may influence them at least somewhat.

Red Berenson is the other factor. He's known for not having a very structured game. No idea if this is good or bad for Trouba.

It's probably why Trouba's offensive game outside of the PP has spiked so much... which is good in balance.

Noel said he didn't feel he was challenged , so that would not be a good thing as a sophomore if it wasn't as a freshman.

Hopefully he drops out and is willing to play AHL. Hes going to be a millionaire, he doesn't need a college degree.

That really isn't the issue. He isn't going to play four years at UM and he like many NHL players can continue their schooling as they play , if he wishes.

I think the big draw for him is to be the C of the US WJC team next year. Perhaps he does that and signs after the tournament.

I don't think the WJC will Keep him from the NHL. He already has a gold medal.

I don't think the Jets would tell him not to go, either. Especially not if he's bottom pairing.

From Elliotte Friedman's 30 thought's today:

Quote:
18. The biggest NCAA decision to come this week may be Jacob Trouba's. Michigan's incredible streak of 22 consecutive NCAA berths ended Sunday. It's been rumoured that Winnipeg's first-round pick in 2012 (ninth overall) would turn pro once his college season closed. Time to find out if that's true.
Full article, which contains a couple other Jets thoughts, here.

Because that's the only reason to go to college.
