Patty made a huge blinder at the point last season on the PP. whatever tho, we can still put goals in with that PP unit.

I actually like that we are playing a scrappy team that lost its two best players, in the first game after we lost our top guy. This will show the boys how they have to play to get through this adversity.

Yeah, I remember that. I think he whiffed and fell leading to a 2-on-1 shorthanded goal. That's okay, I still trust Patty. Still wish Larsson would get a more legitimate shot there.

Now that you mention it I also remember Elias having a point blunder lol. Must have been during Kovy's two-week absence last year.

Meanwhile, our two D scratches make a better 2nd pairing than you could find on most teams in the league.

More accurately we're using a #2 line as our #1, a #3 line as our #2, a #4 line as our #3, and a #5 line as our #4

You're most likely right, except swap Henrique and Zajac based off this quote from Elias

Tom Gulitti ‏@TGfireandice 20m
Elias said the way the power play is set up, either he or Henrique will end up at the point.

I remember that stretch - both Kovy and Patty had some bad breaks leading to SHG's for like 5 games in a row. It was ugly. I hope it goes better this time.

I'd rather stick Greene on the point with the first unit with Zids as a safeguard and keep Patty on the half wall. He's so effective there.

Im telling you, D'Ags impressed me with his speed and energy in his first game. I could see him fitting in nicely in this game

Consecutive games in November, although first was far worse... Also, bad results for #5 who seemed to be his D-partner for both SHGA.

Edit: Larsson couldn't really be faulted for the 2 on 1, although a better play may have helped, he gave the shooter to Marty

If there's one thing Maclean taught us, it's that Zajac should play the point.

Zajac makes soo much sense. Great shot, good defensively.

I dont see why nobody on the coaching staff sees this ???

Yup Patty did cause a shorthanded goal also last year. One that comes to mind was when he slipped and fell against the nascars when Kovy was out. Another game I'm pretty sure he caused one was one I saw in person down in Sunrise. It was the game we were winning 3-0 after the 1st and lost 4-3. The REGULAR season game against the Panthers where that happened, not the playoff game.

Also I'm gonna go through all our PP goals this year, and see how many of them came without Kovy on the ice.

It's probably a rare occurrence that Kovy was not on the ice for a PP.

It's not a rare occurrence. It's an occurrence that hasn't happened this year. I lost count it was either 18 or 19 PP goals scored this year. Kovy has been on the ice for EVERY SINGLE power play goal this season. Hey I think there was a time he wasn't on the ice for a shorty though!

I think the Devils are going to play great tonight.

<-----Big believer in the Patrick Ewing Theory.

At the very least, I wont scream at my TV set the usual 4 to 7 times per night when someone in a Devil's jersey passes up a high-quality scoring opportunity to force the puck to Kovalchuk while he's being covered by 1/2 the other team's squad.
