I'd do that, but I'm a much bigger fan of Couturier than Myers. Couturier gives us a lockdown center that would complement Grigs/Hodgson/Ennis. A shutdown line with Girgensons-Couturier-xxxxx would be tough to play against.

I can't really see too many takers.
My guess is 29 teams would be interested.

5.5 gets you Wideman as a UFA..

5.5 isnt brutal for a guy who is playing all situations at 23

Zack Kassian?
Our young centers are really good on the offensive side of things, but we don't have anyone (yet) who can do what Couturier does. Girgensons is still young, and hasn't yet been given a shot at center in the AHL, but he's a few years away from making the type of defensive impact that Couturier did last year (some tough luck for Couturier this year, certainly).

Any organization not dumb enough to quadruple-down on turning him into Chara the way Ruff and Regier have and develop him around his career-long strengths (that he's a freaking huge PMD capable of covering an absurd amount of ground while logging tough defensive minutes) is going to have a gem on their hands.

Especially if Darcy does something totally out of character and trades a dollar for change.

Edit- seriously, you'd think the third straight season he's sucked out of the gate after adding 10-20 pounds of muscle over the summer would be a hint to somebody in Buffalo.

Soft and not even a good at defense, I'd offer Belanger + 3rd.

Doubt Sabres would be interested in that.

Would be an excellent match with Gardiner.

Doubt Buffalo moves him anytime soon.

I don't know - to me he reminds me too much of Phaneuf's situation.

Looked great early, regressed.

Maybe he'll get his form back and maybe he won't.

The Leafs didn't give up anything for Phaneuf, but they didn't really get their money's worth based on his contract either.

I doubt Myers is available but IF he is, it would take a lot to get him. Top 15 pick in this years draft + Cap equilizer. Couturier + Mezaros was a solid proposal.

Young, High upsie player and a 3-4 dman and we can start talking.

What's his actual salary as compared to the 5.5 cap hit? If it's a nice differential, I could see the Isles taking a swing at a trade offer.

I would hold on to him, he seems to have been improving recently. It's not like he is the only one struggling on that team.
you won't get full value for him at this point, you better keep him or at least wait until his value is not at its lowest.

They shouldn't even think of trading Myers.

After this season he has six years and $26.5m remaining.

I'd draft Drouin if I was the Sabres' GM.

I wouldnt. Mackinnin all the way. Blazing speed and good defensive chops as well? Heck yes
