18. The biggest NCAA decision to come this week may be Jacob Trouba's. Michigan's incredible streak of 22 consecutive NCAA berths ended Sunday. It's been rumoured that Winnipeg's first-round pick in 2012 (ninth overall) would turn pro once his college season closed. Time to find out if that's true.
Full article, which contains a couple other Jets thoughts, here.
I heard and read the rumors about him leaving after the college season this year, but now I'm thinking he stays one more year.
If he made the NCAA tourney, that may have made a difference, but now he has another reason to go back for one more year. I don't see 3 or 4 yrs, but I do think he'll be there next year.
After watching the game Sunday, he's close, imo, but can use more time. But I fully believe, when he finally comes to Jets and after a couple of years in the NHL, he'll be a top pairing dman and a special player.
I saw some drew doughty and alex pietrangelo (though trouba is more physical) in his game. When he gains some experience and huddy coaching, he'll be a very solid contributor, imo.
Really think the Trouba family will not sign until he is given a 1 way contract.....and I don't think the Jets are ready to start burning ELC years until they are sure he can handle NHL minutes......
Makes sense - he'll want some sort of assurance that he'll be playing with the Jets, even if the Jets can't give him a 1-way contract. It's hard to be sure if Trouba is ready, but the Jets have clearly been spending quite a bit of time and resources to try to assess his development.
