If the market value for Murray right now is 2nd + a possible a 3rd, Kipper can get a 2nd + as well.

Seriously. It's just easy hits and attention for media types to throw the Leafs name into everything. How often has any of this ever come true?

I know who LeBrun "is" I said in this particular post he "sounds" like Eklund... Nothing to do with credibility.... Jeez, way to take things out of context.

Example of "sounding" like Eklund:

There are 180 defensive spots in the NHL and 60 goaltending positions.

Trade value differs when you talk goaltending.

Not the same market.

You might be able to send the lowball for Mike, but Mark Giordano's going to cost you actual hockey players.

Not for Kipper.

D'Amigo is the best I think we could do. Along with Scrivens.

Are you short sighted enough to neglect Kippers body of work?

A 1st is extremely discounted value for Kipprusoff. Depite his age, and season struggles hes still a top 10 goalie no questions asked.

Through 15 appearances, he's the 45th ranked goalie in the league.

No the team is awful, put him in Toronto where they can score goals and thus he wouldn't have to steal EVERY SINGLE WIN and you'd see how good he is.

Calgary doesn't need Scrivens because Rämö is better than he is (yes he is much better now than he was in 2009).

And so do you weigh those 15 appearances over his remaining body of work?

if we can do something around a Kipper + Giordano package then we can talk. I don't want to give up any significant assets for just Kipper alone

Still need a backup, no reason we can't have 2 goalies fight for the #1 job.

He's going to be 37 by the start of next season, so that's a big yes.

Kipper's a tough one. The Leafs could certainly use a veteran backup (in fact I hope they pick one up this deadline) but given Kiprusoff's contract and his stats this year I would be cautious from Toronto's perspective.

He only has one year left on his deal. His cap hit is a bit high, but the actual dollars to be paid next year are only 1.5 million.

It's really his play this year that would have me concerned.

True, the main concern is his play this year because what the Leafs really need IMO is a stabilizing veteran presence. Reimer has been solid but has had patches of inconsistency and I really think a veteran mentor would help.

However, that cap hit is unpleasant for next year especially with the cap dropping.

So 15 games to you is more important then YEARS of being a top 10 goalie? thank god you aren't our GM

Kiprusoff is 10 bad games removed (on the second worst defensive team in the league) from being considered a top ten goaltender in the NHL. You are not going to get him for a fringe NHL prospect in Carter Ashton.

I would prefer to keep him and let him retire as a Flame if that was the best offer on the table.

His struggles directly coincide with the abysmal defense in front of him.

Why would the Leafs want to trade for a goalie who's numbers are worse than Reimer and Scrivens this season. Nothing against Kiprusoff but he is just not the same anymore and with his age I just don't see him turning it around.

Wouldn't mind having a vet here but Kipper has been awful this year. I'd still take my chances on him though. Ashton+Scrivens
