Interesting. Ryder and Ribeiro were drafted the same year, Ribeiro in the 2nd round and Ryder in the 8th. In 1998 Ryder was considered a very long shot to make the team, yet in 2006 Gainey was willing to pay him $300K more than Ribeiro to avoid arbitration. It clearly shows that Ryder has greater market value than Ribeiro.

Giving in to a one or 2 year player to a huge contract that is multi-year... well, thats just flat out dumb, unless said player has shown the best hockey they can possibly play (and even then its still dumb half the time).

Ryder if he has a great year... should be tendered a 3 year, 10 million dollar deal.

Why? He hasn`t proven yet he can play like a hockey player. Let`s see if he can repeat that 30 goals this year, but more importantly be a more well-rounded player and then consider it.
