Did you know than Montreal Canadiens have 6 players in the top 24 of the NHL for the Takeaways? And the 3rd and 4th are Souray and Markov... What a pair!

I wonder how accurately those stats are kept. I have a hard time believing 10 of the top 24 players in takeaways would come from just two teams. If these are the type of stats that the home team tracks, then it probablely makes sense, but...

Yeah that's very likely. It's probobly some trugger happy guy counting them on our team.
I see Brind'amour is #1 for faceoffs lost. He is without a doubt the worst faceoff guy in the league
*****ERROR***** You really cannot read numbers...
Brind'Amour is 1st with 2145 faceoffs, and the 2nd is Thornton with 1798. Then, it's normal than Brind'Amour have lost the most faceoffs... You understand?
Moreover, Brind'Amour is 3rd with 59.1% (Perreault always 1st with an impressive 62.2%!!!).

We dont have many shot blockers according to those stats. Rivet was 32nd and Boullion was 50th thast all we got in the top 50. Something Carbo i bet will be working on. look at all the shots Carolina and Buffalo were blocking. In my opinion its a pretty underrated stat.
Better stat: Markov has the best shooting % amongst Defensemen....well fine, he tied Brian Campbell. Still pretty good.
Yeah and he's 15th in Points per Game for D-men above 40 games too
Those damn Toronto guys are 2nd and 6th tho, but Markov is +14 more than both of them
He's also 9th in divisional points for a d-man
I don't know how people can say Markov isn't at least a 1A d-man, he is defensively reliable and is in the top 15 for mostly every offensive category. There are guys who are comparable in every offensive and defensive category who are considered "elite" while Markov is just a #2 guy "at the very best"

I agree with u but who cares what everyone else thinks. Maybe an arbitratoir will think hes only a number 2 and we can sign a bonnafide #1 for #2 money

and people say that ribeiro doesn't do what it takes to win battles,
pfft.
And Ribeiro only has 24 giveaways... He must have one of the best giveaways vs takeaways ratio in the NHL. But of course, no one will care about something positive on Ribs, right?

I've taken a few cracks in the past at trying to keep track myself and compare. It's almost random noise sometimes. I think the fancy stats are somewhat interesting as a curiosity, and the accuracy for hits and faceoffs aren't *too* bad, but the rest, well... it's like reading the Hockey News anymore... you can do it (if you're bored) because, after all, it's related to hockey, and that automatically makes it interesting. But it doesn't really tell you anything you didn't already know. And for sure you can't compare players from team to team based on those stats.
