Sens contracts for 2013-14

With all the recent Sens signings (Sdao, Rutkowski, Hammond, Buddy Robinson), the team currently has 38 players under contract for 2013-14:

Forwards (23):

Spezza, Michalek, Turris, Zibanejad, Smith, Silverberg, Neil, Greening, O'Brien, Kassassin, Noesen, Puempel, Prince, Stone, Schneider, Hamilton, Grant, Kramer, Pageau, Culek, Petersson, Cannone, Robinson

Defencemen (12):

Karlsson, Methot, Phillips, Cowen, Gryba, Ceci, Claesson, Rutkowski, Wideman, Blood, Sdao, Eckford

Goaltenders (3):

Anderson, Lehner, Hammond

In addition...the Sens have 10 RFA's to potentially sign:

F - Condra, Daugavins, Dziurzynski, Hoffman, Cowick, Da Costa, Caporusso
D - Wiercioch, Borowiecki
G - Bishop

...and some UFA's the Sens may be interested in keeping, including Alfredsson of course, Gonchar, Benoit, maybe even Latendresse..and a couple of drafted prospects the club may be interested in keeping such as Aneloski and Fransoo.

Since the Sens are capped at 50 contract next season (assuming under the new CBA that is still the maximum) - the Sens aren't going to have much room under that cap to potentially add a top 6 forward free agent and a depth goaltender for Binghamton...assuming things stay the status quo.

Some of the RFA's likely won't be back - Bishop likely to get traded, Caporusso won't be qualified IMO (maybe Daugavins too)...but it seems at least apparent to me that the Sens are aiming to make a deal for a top 6 forward involving multiple pieces going the other way before next season. Thoughts?

My guess is that the folowing guys may either be traded or not re-signed although a few will be re-signed:

Regin, Lundin, Jessiman, Lawson, Benoit, Gonchar, Caporusso, Daugavins, Condra, Latendresse, Cowick, Hoffman, Dzuirzynski & Bishop plus maybe one or two other players who is signed for next season. Then there is always the question whether Alfie re-signs.

Still hoping for Fleischmann LW from Florida for Regin, JOB & Condra.

Because all 3 players were before 1994, their contracts will count against the Sens limit of 50 next season.

Condra will be re-signed

He's been such an excellent footsoldier for us, an asset in the bottom 6

Am I the only one who would re-sign Regin? He's not putting up the points but he's still awesome. One man transition

Probably.

There are many other people that can fill his role. JOB or Da Costa

They're not as good as him. Not even close IMO. Just look at Regin's performance in overtime. JOB and SDC could not have done that.

He is trying, yet is not finishing.

0 goals in 24 games.

JOB at least has 5 in 26.
Hell, DaCosta has a goal and has played only 9.

Like I said, I don't care. He's still effective. So good defensively, can play any forward position, PK, good passer, transition is so easy when he's on the ice... Love that man. He'll snap out of it eventually. His bad numbers mean he'll come cheap.

If I had to pick one forward to switch to defense, it's Regin. Smart, fundamentally sound and high skill level.

I'll be very disappointed if he's not re-signed.

regin, cowick, caporusso, jessiman, lundin, bishop all gone. That leaves Alfie, Lats, Daugavins, Condra, Dziurzinski, Gonchar, Benoit, Da Costa, Hoffman, Boro, Lawson to sign (or replace), putting us at 49.

hmm... that's still a bit high. Maybe someone like da costa gets shipped out at the deadline for a rental though.

That's because for some bizarre reason, people seem to believe that no one in Sens management can count up to 50 and are so technically inept that they don't even know how to use a calculator.

No - it just means that the Sens brass will have some interesting decisions to make before the trade deadline and this off-season. That's all. They can't keep everybody.

well, you have to remember that just in the past few years this league has had one GM forget to file RFA offers on time and another GM give an offersheet to a guy who had to clear waivers to play.

I don't see why so many posts have Condra not being resigned. He's been one of McLean's best work horses and is a guy who can play with any line in any situation. Versatility is one of the hottest commodities in the league.

At even strength his on ice shot differential is +6.2, highest on the team.

His stone hands do drive me crazy like everyone else, but putting himself into offensive chances speaks volumes about his high hockey IQ.

I'm not a Regin hater, but Condra's skill-set is much more suitable for a bottom 6 player.

The majority do. Some posts are focusing on who to let go so it implies Condra being re-signed.
