interesting, none of the national guys are saying there's a conditional pick...maybe just hasn't been reported yet

Seller's market indeed.

I'd still be surprised if someone would give up a first rounder for Nikitin. Douglas Murray is a solid D and a great hitter, while you never seem to know what you'll get with Nikitin.

What's the condition? I can't seem to find reporting of it.

I think we'll see a major sell off if this roadtrip goes the way I think it will. Vancouver is picking up some steam, and Calgary is a different team at home. If we drop 3 of the next 4 (Van, Cal, Anh) before the deadline I think we see a big sale at the deadline. Regardless I can't see us not selling some pieces at these prices. Brass is worth a 1st round plus to Chicago, Nikitin may fetch a first. If their is a major sell off maybe we see some of Wiz, Umby, Tyutin, Dubi out the door.

however, just saw this....
Josh Rimer ‏@JoshRimerHockey
Doug Wilson tells me 2nd rounder in 2013 & a 2nd rounder in 2014 which becomes a 3rd rounder in 2014 if PIT doesn't win 2 playoff rounds

Is it possible for the Jackets to get a second round pick for Adrian Aucoin? Might be valuable to a playoff team wanting leadership.

I give the Jackets two games to determine what's going to happen over the next 1.5 weeks. They win the next 2 games, GMJK's decisions become a lot harder. If they play like they did on Saturday and drop both games, trades are going to heat up and the "plan" will be set in motion.

More on Murray deal: the 2nd pick in 2014 based on Pitt winning 2 playoff rounds OR resigning him and if neither occurs, it's a 3rd in 2014

I don't know. If somebody gets really desperate I would say a late 2nd isn't totally out of the question. It would be stupid on the part of that GM

Cooper next coach of Tampa, per Dreger.

Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger 14 min
Piling on to the speculation...expect Tampa Bay to announce Jon Cooper as head coach as early as tomorrow. #TSN

Loved Cooper when he coached Ohio State. Glad to see him get a shot in another sport (at age 75!)

"Your team has lost five in a row by a combined 24 goals. How do you turn things around?"

I used to infuriate my dad by referring to OSU as "the team of two streaks". They'd only have two different streaks in a season...11-0 followed by 0-2.

Ha, my dad was an Arizona State Alumni. He was so glad when Cooper left ASU and went to OSU because it meant that in his words "ASU finally has a chance in the only game that matters, the game against Arizona"

Stevie Y just wanted to make sure that Tampa would never beat that team up north. Detroit.

I'd be all for picking guys off waivers (assuming they don't have contracts that would handcuff our future) as "trade deadline acquisitions" so that we give up zero in future assets for them... Depends on who comes down the wire though. Haven't paid much attention to anyone in the east this year though...

Jussi Jokinen might be worth a look, though I haven't seen him play lately. I assume his play has dropped off quite a bit if he's been put on waivers.

Rangers up 1-0 at the moment, on Rick Nash's 300th career goal.
