Has a team ever iced a single PK unit with 3 or 4 defensemen?

Has a team ever tried playing 3 (or even 4) defensemen at once to kill a penalty?

Don't know about the PK.

But didn't Keenan ice 5 defensemen once, while coaching the Rangers?

Once last year the Sens had Phillips, Chara and Redden on the ice at one time killing a penalty. But one of them had come out of the box from serving a previous penalty. I think it was a 5-3 with Alfie as the forward and then one of the Defenceman came out of the box to make it a 5-4 PK. Not really intentional though.

Anyone know if the Oilers ever used 3 of their big 4 forwards and Paul Coffey to kill a 5-4 penalty? I assume they must have done it at times. Was it something they did often?

Really? Was it the last minute of the 3rd to protect a lead or something?

I think was more of a wake up call for some under performing forwards.

Haha, I'm sorry, I forgot this is Mike Keenan we're talking about, not Scotty Bowman.

In the 76' Canada Cup Bowman put out Savard, Potvin, Orr and Robinson out.

I guess that would be the best PK unit in History?

I can't think of a better one. He didn't do that often in the tournament but for the majority of the tournament he had three defenders out there killing penatlies.

Punch Imlach probably tried it in the 60's. I know he used to put 5 Dmen out on occasion.
