Morrow is also in the PK forwards mix, which essentially makes Glass expendable and probably waived possibly.
Here's Morrow's SH TOI/G for the past 5 seasons...

2012-13: 0:06
2011-12: 0:23
2010-11: 0:44
2009-10: 1:29
2008-09: 1:55

So basically he's been losing time SH each year up until this point. I really wouldn't be relying on him playing on our PK any time soon. At least he won't be a difference maker.

it's pretty obvious they are not done. They have 25 guys for 23 spots, something is going to happen. Trade, waivers, guys being sent down.

I really don't think Letang and Geno are going to be out until April 3rd.

Sometimes I think Rossi and Yohe each other as sources.

What we've been rolling with for PK, he's a better PK'er, shot blocker than Glass. Probably better at draws too if he took em.

Wasn't sure where to post this (heck it's probably been posted in the other threads already!) but here are the jersey numbers per the Pens website:

Morrow: 10
Glass: 15
Jeffrey: 17
Murray: 3

Not sure why Glass bumped Jeffrey off of 15 to be honest. Maybe Jeffrey decided the number wasn't very lucky for him after he could have had a 4 goal night and couldn't bury one puck last night

Bennett and Despres will be sent down for a week and then they will come back..

Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis
Bennett-Malkin-Neal
Morrow-Sutter-Cooke
Kennedy-Vitale-Adams

Letang-Despres
Orpik-Martin
Niskanen-Murray

MAF/TV

What I think they will be:

Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis
Morrow-Malkin-Neal
Cooke-Sutter-Kennedy
Glass-Vitale-Adams

Letang-Eaton
Orpik-Martin
Niskanen-Murray

MAF/TV

What I really WANT them to be:

Kunitz-Crosby-Iginla
Bennett-Malkin-Neal
Morrow-Sutter-Dupuis
Jeffrey-Vitale-Adams

Letang-Despres
Orpik-Martin
Niskanen-Murray

MAF/TV

Great lineup, but that deal doesn't even come close to getting it done. Even Pouliot in there instead of "mid D prospect" won't be enough, given what Morrow cost.

All of which is to say that we might want to just sell off any of Jeffrey/Kennedy/Glass for picks or something if we won't be able to keep under 23 w/ Malkin+Letang coming back before the 3rd.

Two roster players and a prospect for a UFA rental? A 35 UFA rental at that. I dunno.

I think the people who are hoping to see Despres partnered with Letang 5 on 5 are setting themselves up for a letdown. Best case scenario for Despres, in the playoffs especially, is getting on the ice 12 minutes a night on the bottom pairing. More likely he'll be sitting in favor of Eaton more often than not.

I can't wait to see the reactions when Morrow creates space for Geno and Neal and ups the physical anti for the team. Also hope to see BB with Sutter since they play a real nice 3 zone game together. Similar speed, approach, smarts. Suddenly we would could have 2 great competent top 6 lines, and a well balanced 3rd line who matches up well in a lot of places.

I also expect if both top lines perform well we will earn more PP's by forcing defenses into more desperate situations.

I am hopeful the extra talent out there will plan out......maybe we will win a few games for a change...sheesh

Those roster players aren't particularly useful to the Flames, though. As we saw with the Morrow trade, they wanted back futures, not a depthy-roster player, for Morrow. It's possible the Flames will feel differently, but I can't see why. If they trade Iginla, they've given up on making the playoffs this season.

I just do not see it, though it would be gravy if it happened.

I truly believe that these two trades were entirely about a ten by ten section of ice in front of the net. If that is the case these guys do not even have to move let alone be fast. Murray just needs to clear the net in front of the goalie, Morrow merely needs to do whatSimmonds did all last night, plant himself in front of the goalie, interfere with their ability to see around him and refuse to move.

Both have been glaring needs for years, and I guess Ray Ray felt that even if he had to vastly overpay, this team did not have a lot of holes, and these two stuck out like a sore thumb so may as well overpay. I really do not think that there is any more to this than that.

"Vastly overpay"? Give me a break.

BTW Bylsma said that BB would stay with the team for the year.

I expect to see

Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis
Morrow-Malkin-Neal
Cooke-Sutter-Kennedy
Glass-Vitale-Adams

Letang-Despres
Orpik-Martin
Murray-Niskanen

(Engellend, Eaton, Bortuzzo)

I'd like to see
Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis
Bennett-Malkin-Neal
Morrow-Sutter-Cooke
Adams-Vitale-Kennedy

Letang-Niskanen
Orpik-Martin
Despres-Murray

Bennett stays on line 2 and our bottom 6 gets MUCH better.

Despres isn't ready for 1st pairing minutes I don't think, and going into the playoffs I'm not ready to trust him with such either. He's played great and absolutely deserves a roster spot, but with Murray playing stay at home (I hope) he's free to be more offensive and make a few mistakes without having a 2 on none the other way.

With crankshaft Murray on board how will the Penguins match up the d?

Letang/Orpik
Martin/Niskanen
Murray/Despre

Orpik Martin
Despres Letang
Murray Niskanen

Scratches: Eaton/Engelland/Bortuzzo

Pretty sure Bylsma hinted a while back we could see some 7 D lineups down the road though.

You can't really believe Despres will be with Letang.

Hopefully the lineup tonight if Malkin and Letang are still out.
I don't want to see Morrow with Jeffrey unless DB moves Sutter up for Morrow-Sutter-Neal as the 2nd line.

Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis
Bennett-Jeffrey-Neal
Morrow-Sutter-Cooke
Adams-Vitale-Kennedy

Eaton-Niskanen
Orpik-Martin
Despres-Engelland

or

Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis
Morrow-Sutter-Neal
Cooke-Jeffrey-Bennett
Adams-Vitale-Kennedy

Eaton-Niskanen
Orpik-Martin
Despres-Engelland

I wonder if Murray and Morrow are actually toast as their fans say, or are suffering from Goligoski/Niskanen syndrome. Goligoski can be an amazing player, if paired properly and used properly. But if you count on him as your Shea Weber, you deserve what you get when it does not turn out. Niskanen was destroyed in Dallas from misuse. But here he is properly paired and roled and has done amazing for us.

Morrow may have been a top forward at one time, he no longer fits that role. But does that mean he is useless? Dallas has a history of putting players in a higher role than they are capable and then crapping on them when they fail. If SJ counted on Murray to still be a top pairing role that they once had for him, does that mean that he is useless in a different role, PK and bottom pairing defenseman who can keep the net clear?

I am willing to wait and see if that plays out. I am not thrilled with these trades. I wanted our assets to be used for longer term solutions. A Saad age and type wing for instance. Not a couple of rentals. But that is water under the bridge. Let's see what we actually have. I can at least see what Shero was trying to do with these moves, and both holes were big needs on this team.
