I don't get the appeal of ADTR... It sounds like Simple Plan on cocaine.

I used to like them a lot. Catchy, rhythmic, I guess they've very appealing as an "entry level band".

Kinda like how no one who listens to punk will listen to Green Day, but they probably started with them at one point.

Wow... piece of crap festival.
A few good bands not worth the price.
Montebello wins by a lot.

There are bands I'd like to see, like Amon Amarth, Mastodon, Baroness, Wintersun... but it's not worth paying 120$ though.

Says the guy with a Kiss avy.

Not the biggest fan of At the Gates, would rather see another gothenberg titan like in flames again, but I've seen them a few times already. Bodom always puts on a great set, even if their new stuff is awful. Wouldn't mind seeing amon amarth again. Saw them years ago opening a set for bodom and really liked what I heard.
If there's a 'core' band out there I'd love to see live, it would be Darkest Hour. At least they got some melody to them.

But steel panther? What the ****? Get that **** away from a metal concert.

Super meh on the Heavy MTL

seen the headliners plenty of times.
Would be cool to see Danzig, Steel Panther & ATG.

Its too bad cause i like going & the vibe is usually very cool.

I would pay 150 bucks for a ticket, 400 for a flight, another few hundred for hotel and then food and booze money just for these 6 minutes and 28 seconds live.

Sens fan and metalhead coming in peace.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one severely disappointed in this line-up. There's almost no way I'm going now. Maybe just to see the Mayhem tour line-up the day before with Periphery and The Dillinger Escape Plan.

I saw Avenged Sevenfold headlining and immediately got sick to my stomach. The rest of the line-up proved to be just as bad (for the most part).

How do we get this? Last year there was In Flames, SOAD, KSE, Slipknot, VoM, Trivium. Now we get this ****? So frustrating.

They can only book bands that are available.

Its clear someone cancelled the headliner slot. Who that was, its all speculation.

Last year was alright, still think 2010 was the best year.

five finger death punch would be my guess. When you look at who's on the mayhem ferstival lineups and who's on heavy mtl....alot of the same stuff except 5FDP.....sucks if it was them cause they would be the best performance after machine head imo

I really want to see Avenged Sevenfold live at some point soon, I love them, although that doesn't seem to be the popular thing. I don't know if I'll be heading up to see them in Heavy MTL though, I don't think I like enough of the other bands. I wish they would just go on a regular tour.

It wasn't Black Sabbath they couldn't land? Would that really have made much difference to those complaining about the lineup? I mean, for me, something more like Wacken, with a bit more of the power metal flavour would be ideal, but it seems like there are some solid bands here. Who would have made it soooooo much better? And that ought to be at least 3-5 bands, subbing in one 5FDP wouldn't really mean much to me? Megadeth has the name power and historical epicness, I like Wintersun and Machine Head, would see Mastodon, Goddess, Finntroll... and expect a few of the other name bands to put on solid shows, even if I'm not a big fan per se. I guess I just don't know what more people want out of a weekend festival?

Out of the main line-up, there are maybe 3 bands that I'd be interested in seeing: Megadeth, August Burns Red and Wintersun. The rest are either bands that I relatively enjoy some material or bands that have no appeal to me. Again, these kind of line-ups are all just a matter of people's personal preferences just like any other festival. But it's clear that the festival took a way different approach/direction this year.

Avenged Sevenfold? A Day To Remember? Of Mice And Men? At The Gates? The Acacia Strain? The festival seems to be much more concerned with new post-hardcore and "teeny" metal than what they have been putting together these past couple of years. I just find this line-up to be RADICALLY different in terms of appealing to different fanbases when compared to last years line-up.

I'm just very disappointed because I wasn't able to make it to last years festival and was so excited for this years. Now, I don't know what to think. There's a good chance I'll go see the Summer Slaughter (don't know why I said "Mayhem" last post) pre-festival line-up simply because I like TDEP and Periphery is my all-time favourite band, but I just am mainly disappointed with the way this years line-up is appealing to a different crowd.

EDIT: And in terms of who stood out more last year...

Trivium
System of a Down
Slipknot
In Flames
5FDP
Veil of Maya
Deftones
Killswitch Engage
Gojira
Cannibal Corpse
Between the Buried and Me
Protest the Hero
The Faceless

This is a VASTLY different line-up. No comparison.

The lack of an n to Finntroll makes me wonder if it's Halestorm or Alestorm that will be performing...

Headliners are terrible though. Not that I hate A7X, they shouldn't shouldn't headline a Metal Tour.

I've gone on such a massive blind guardian kick lately... I blame you...

And did someone just call 'At the Gates' a new metal core band? lolwut?

Oh ****, just noticed Augury. They're awful. Saw them live years ago.
