He sure isn't Corey Perry that might be worth the price tag that they were talking about.Eller,Beaulieu plus the Habs 1st and 2nd round picks this year Bah Humbug!

He's a great player, worthy of a good return...but his cap hit has to deflate the value too, unless they take salary back. Gionta + 2nd...sure (both offer up similar #s) But no way they do that. And I use GIo as the return based on salary and that BGally offers us a younger version of Gio.

I'm not sure you know who we were talking about.

Vanek is no more one dimensional than most of the top 20 forwards in the NHL. You want guys like that thinking offense and scoring goals. I'm sure if MB had a chance to acquire Vanek he would make a big offer.

That would be a no brainer...but I don't see them moving him. Roy and Jagr would go long before Erickson, he has 3 years left on a good contract(4.25 mil/year) and is only 27.

Would love to see offer for Eriksson and this wouldn't go toward a rental but an amelioration of our team, what would be good deal for both side (stop with Gionta in every trade the captain won't be going on a rebuilding team)

At 7 million per year, that's sounds rich to me

Dallas won't trade him, but suppose they do then it'll be the same as Vanek: Start with Eller. The offer wouldn't need to be as good as for Vanek, but still Eller is really the only worthwhile chip we have for acquiring these kind of players. Emelin might be of interest also without hurting the habs too much.

Anyone else think we are completely, 100% destroying Yannick Weber's value?

Well, there are relatively "many" young players who don't explode into NHL regulars in the 3-year ELC or even 4-year timeframe. I don't think it's really noteworthy that Weber hasn't. Lots of players down through the ages have bounced around a bit before either failing to stick or before establishing themselves. At this point, I don't honestly have an opinion on which way Weber will go. But "change of scenery" time is basically here for him, and the team which loses a player in his situation rarely gets anything out of it. That's ok. I'd keep him another year *if* we had no better option, but would of course hope that we somehow did have better options. It's down to "don't care either way" for me at this point. He's a good player, but needs some kind of fresh look. I don't see that coming here, and don't mind if it comes elsewhere.

You're implying that he has any value to destroy? Maybe he's worth another project prospect or 4th-ish round pick at best.

Weber's value is definitely not maxed out, but teams have seen NHL games of him and know what he can do. Having him sit all year doesn't take that away.

Better to bust then because Lou is probably not going to trade him.

Better to trade him than lose him to UFA this summer.

Jussi Jokinen on waivers. Wouldn't that be a good pick up??

Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger
CAR places J.Jokinen and T.Wallace and OTT places K.Daugavins on Waivers.

Not with him having a 3 mil cap hit next year.

Closing this since we're at the limit...I'm not going to open a new one until after the trade deadline, since I think most proposal/trade talk can go in the "who do you want the Habs to get at the deadline?" thread.

When the deadline passes we can have another one of these stickied for the casual proposal and trade talk, as usual.
