Attended the game.

We started the game really, really well. Great time-out by the Devils. Really killed the pace from our perspective.

We struggled in our own end tonight... New Jersey players moved the puck very well, and we looked like headless chickens for most part of the game.

-Methot continues to be a rock
-Neil had a tough game
-DD has some wheels... didn't get much ice-time
-Someone woke Greening up (used his body, speed and drove the net)
-We aren't the ****ing Globe Trotters - we pass way too much. Shoot the damn thing
-Gonchar wasn't effective offensively, but he makes the great little plays defensively
-Condra had a real good game
-Goaltending kept us in it (like usual)
-Alfie was Alfie

Just got home from the game.

That was ugly, we had no business getting one point, let alone two.

I didn't think anyone had a particularly good game. Bishop was solid, but we came a lucky bounce from losing in regulation.

Still a win is a win.

Good

Alfie finally scores in shootout
Bishop is undefeated in shootout

I think I heard "refs you suck" chant near the end too
Sens are actually top 5 in the league playing with a lead. For some reason it's at even score that they suffer, because in general they really tend to drive play when both leading and trailing (but especially when trailing).

Though, only looking at the last ~85 minutes they've played, I definitely agree with you. Most of that 3rd period in Tampa was brutal, as was this game outside of the first 10 minutes.

And if Condra could score, he'd easily be the 3rd best skater on this team (after Karlsson/Spezza). As it stands, he's the next Chris Kelly, which in itself is pretty respectable anyway.

Makes the loss to the B's a little easier to swallow.

It's about time we used Zibby in the shootout!

Well, sure. They lost. But you've been around here when the Sens lose a game where they did everything better but just couldn't beat the other goalie one more time, right? It's not exactly a love in.

Just noticed Smith didn't play in the last 15 minutes of the 3rd, nor in OT.

Yep. Sens went to 3 lines, sat Smith, DD and Kassian. Dunno if Smith was injured or just being benched though.

meh. He played OK in the 1st. DD was absolutely horrible though. I thought Neil was weaker than Smith too.

Dziurzynski's last shift was when he lost Zidlicky and he walked out into the slot and roofed it. Haven't seen Maclean bench players that often, but he definitely looked the goat on that play.

Smith also shouldn't have fought Clarkson. It was ill timed and gave momentum to the Devils.

Lines for next game should be

Latendresse - Turris - Alfredsson
Regin - Zibanejad - Silfverberg
Greening - Smith - Condra
Daugavins - O'Brien - Neil

Yeah, count me in on the 'wondering why DD is still in the NHL' crowd. Would much prefer JOB. I guess they need some bodies up, though...

It's been a long time since I saw dump and chase as much as the Devils did tonight, or more like flip and chase. Maybe it's an NCAA celebration thing but definately a long time since seeing so many pucks flipped over player's heads like the Devil's did.

Almost went home after Phillip's goal, because once he scored the outcome was inevitable.

I have a feeling it was to make sure it didn't look like we sent him down because he got KO'd in a fight.

But you're right, the guy is not an NHL player right now.

I'm done giving Regin top minutes. Greening showed way more energy. Regin is an offensive black hole. We are too far into the schedule to hope he actually produces.

Regin and Greening were actually two of the better Sens tonight. I sure hope the angry Greening stays around for a couple of weeks before he disappears again. Angry Greening is awesome.

I'm not sure how much offense you should be expecting from a guy centering Condra and Kassian. I think even Jason Spezza would struggle to put up points playing with those two.

Regin right now is playing great in his role of semi-faceoff specialist, defensive 4th line center that creates the occasional scoring chance.

I'll tell you why I liked tonight's game. NJ lost Kovalchuk and went with a certain familiar game plan... yes... its baaaack. The wonderful style of hockey that ruined the sport for a decade. We still attacked it and did our best to get speed through the neutral zone which NJ did none of. NJ had their 30+ shots from terrible angles but we out chanced them imo. Numbers might prove me wrong but the shot count was in no way indicative of the play.

We broke the god awful trap that they decided to use when down and tied (WHY?????) and we won. This pleases me on many levels. I know NJ will be doing this while Kovy is out but I hope other teams don't go down this road. NHL games have had such a good pace. The sport seems to be ridding itself of this plague. Nice to be part of the cure.

GJ Mac/Reeds/Cameron. Hats off to the Devils for playing a road game. Better luck next time, don't bring that trash into our house.
