A look back: Havlat or Hossa?

Many didn't like the Hawks dumping Havlat for Hossa. Wonder what they think about it now?

Havlat:
219GP-53G-103A-156P

Hossa:
263GP-96G-133A-229P

Hossa just destroys Havlat in every category, and is a much better defensively. Not sure why so many disliked the move at the time.

Havlat is a china doll. Hossa is closer to Hercules. It was dirty the way it all went down. Havlat paid his dues and to some extent deserved to hoist the cup.

The numbers have no bearing to me as far as who is better. It's kind of like taking an all-star or taking a HOF player. There is no need to be sentimental. I wasn't. I was glad we closed the Havlat chapter. It was nice having him here when he did play.

I'm pretty sure that everybody was 100% behind Hossa over Havlat the second we landed Hossa.

Not me. Nothing against Hossa, but Havlat will always be one of my favorite players after the OT game winner in the first playoff home game against Calgary in 2009.

In retrospect it's hard to make the case for Havlat, of course, but it's not hard to see the Hawks still winning the cup if the decision had gone the other way.

We would have won the Cup with either but Hossa has clearly been the better player in the following seasons and was always the better player.

The only thing now is that it seems every time Hossa gets checked, he out a few games. He's become fragile.

Aside from haters from other teams, I don't think anyone questioned this move.

I'm actually surprised Hoss only has 73 more points than Havlat over that span, I was thinking closer to 100.

Pleasantly amusing is Havlat's -16 compared to Hossa's +62 over that span as well.
