Gagner for Rundblad

EDM needs PMD's with top 4 ability
PHX needs top 2 line centers

PHX has to add, since Gagner has increased his value this year but how much?

Oilers needs a center more than a d-man. No.

Trade a proven center for an unproven defenseman??? Seriously we are bad enough as it is, this makes us worse. Runblad is a blue chip prospect no doubt, but this team doesn't need prospects we need a hard working vet or two.

Yeah but you won't win with your top 2 centers being small guys though

Haha. Wouldn't trade you Hanzal straight up for Gagner. Not even close. Maybe Korpikoski and Rundblad.

If I were Edmonton, I'd be looking at dealing Eberle or Hemsky. And the kinds of guys I'd want from Phoenix are Samuelsson, Connor Murphy, Klesla, and Moss. Or move Yakupov for a package containing multiple Phoenix defensive prospects. Get guys who play hockey instead of shinny. Add any of the top-10 centers or defensemen in the draft this year and you have a much more well-rounded core. If you don't get a guy like Barkov or Monahan, address the center size issue more directly when they become more competitive overall.

Oilers pass, We have no C depth and do not want Horcoff as our 2nd line C while we have of D prospects in the pipeline like Klefbom, Marincin, Gernat, Musil etc...

RNH
Horcoff
Belanger
Lander/Vande Velde/Smyth

That's our centers if we trade Gagner without getting one back

That would have to be a very big +... Hanzal is VERY important to Phoenix. Itd have to be the 1st rounder at least Id say.

No way in hell. That's like Edmonton giving up Fistric or Potter for Hanzal.

Value aside, Rundblad doesn't help Edmonton much now. In the short term this actually makes them worse.

Klesla to Edmonton would make sense. A Veteran D for Edmonton and Phoenix moves a big contract off the books.

Change Rundblad to Gormely and I think it's very close. Plus Oilers need LD (Gormely) more than RD (Rundblad). Gormely also is more of what the Oil need in dman

Without a a centerman coming back, this trade would not work for the oilers.

I think this ship has sailed my friend. With the way Gagner has stepped his game up you're going to have to add for sure. I think a year or two ago they definitely would have considered it.

7 career points in the SEL, I wouldn't be banking on him being our answer to PMD in the top 4 anytime soon.

Horcoff is already one of the teams top 2 centers... or do you think they've put their best player (Hall) on the third line?

Which NHL season have you been watching? 2010/2011? Gagner has outproduced Hanzal this season and although he's probably worth less than Hanzal+Rundblad, Korpikoski+Rundlbad is not even close.

Gagner not worth more than Hanzal? A center who hasn't played a full season in 3 years and hasn't gone above 35 pts?

I think it's crazier people are trading Gagner for him at all, no offense.

Yeah but one of the Wings centers is a takeaway machine and a contender for the Selke every year.

No offense, but Gagner would get eaten alive when thrown against the likes of Thornton, Kopitar, and Getzlaf on a regular basis. Hanzal has consistently been able to shut those guys down throughout his career. If you really think otherwise, expect a rude awakening next season with the realignment.

Gagner is skilled, no doubt, but he's not really the center we're looking for. And the Yotes obviously value Hanzal a lot more than an undersized center.
