This is a move that reeks of desperation. It's no knock on Zuccarello, but how many of us figured that this late in the season we'd be depending on him to inject some offense into the team? Sad, sad state of affairs.

honestly i think there was a good chance that we signed him no matter what. can never have enough depth going into the playoffs/down the stretch and at the end of last season he looked able to hold his own even in this system. i don't think it's a "surprise". certainly doesn't seem like a desperate move. i think he'd be signed here sooner if he wasn't in the khl

I mentioned this in TR, but I think we would've found a way to get a deal done late last summer if the lockout hadn't been looming.

According to Aftonbladet, that deal is done, and he has to report back to Sweden by April 15.
Rangers want him to get a taste of NA sized ice, and Swedish federation want him for WC.

So what should we realistically expect from the Hobbit and where will he be played?

3rd line and PP time?

Too bad he wasnt a center, then Richards could be dropped to the 3rd line where he belongs.

Hagelin Stepan Callahan
Zuccarello Richards Nash
Kreider Boyle Gaborik
Miller Newbury Powe

Pyatt, Asham

The real question now is where Kreids and Miller fit. . Pyatt sits? Asham? who the **** knows i'd rather sit Powe, guy is completely useless in the offensive zone.

Thats the question, isnt it ?

I'll hope for the best, but prepare for the worst (first mistake he makes, he'll be benched for the next 3 games...lol).

That is probably the best bet, yes. If the visa goes in order quickly, we'll find out in a few days

Great. That means he haven't burned any bridges if this doesn't work out. Great Magnita.

Disagree. There was a lot of people who thought we would try to get him back to the team after his season ended. Dont think us in 8th place in the standings had much to do with it. But im sure the bottom 6 people beyond brutal helped.

A weak google translation, but Del Zotto and Ryan McDonagh are happy to have him back.

Wardrobe means locker room and grinned means smiling.
Torts want say anything as long as he isn't here yet.

So are the Penguins double desperate for adding Morrow and Murray? Playoff teams (or those trying to be playoff teams) make moves to add depth. I'd venture a guess that Zuccarello would have been discussed and perhaps brought over even if the Rangers were running away with the East.

Two guys who are major physical presences and have loads of playoff experience; one of whom has captained an NHL team... vs Zuccarello who has all of 52 games and 26 points to his name in the NHL. Just a small difference there.

Not to mention that the Penguins roster is already stacked with talent and were on a lengthy winning streak before these moves were made.

Icing the cake.

Could even be how they convinced Zucc to come over for a paltry 16 games. If they explained to him they would play him a few games and then plan to trade him somewhere else where he can sign next year and have a better shot at making an NHL career for himself, that would be more enticing.

Can they even tell a player that, or even would they with a potential information leak?

Wow, terrible comparison. The fact that you can't see the difference between those moves and this move, along with the different states of each team atm, is just

the only reason i bring that up is well if Torts didnt play him much before why would he know?? maybe Glen's plan is to get him signed, have him play a few games and try to package him for a real need... it wont shock me if this is Sather's plan..

It cost nothing. There's no downside.

It's a move that reeks of little if anything. Why it wasn't done weeks ago is the real question.

Yay, bringing back a borderline top 9 player will surely now bring us a Cup..

Is this like Avery 2.0? Fan base thinking bringing in Player A will somehow spark the team?

Can he Even be sent down to AHL?

Isn't there some list with available player that CT has to provide? To show who can play for them and what not??

Don't think Mza was on that list..

Norway coach says it all about NY RANGERS System. lol

Read the Quote from Norway coach about the Rangers ****T$ system.. Even he knows it Sucks..

Roy Johansen, the coach of Norway’s World Championship team, said that the Rangers are a bad fit for Zuccarello because they play “stone age hockey” by just dumping and chasing.

What does this say when a coach from outside the U.S. says the rangers system S*#KS....

lmfao.. Torts MUST GO!!!!!!

Zuccarello deal with Rangers is for $700,000 (pro-rated). NYR have approx $5.3M cap space available which would become $7.25M at deadline

Every team except VAN has money at the deadline. There are no players to spend it on.
